• Food was horrible.

“Ate there many times, food always good. Last time out, we were six people and five meals were horrible and management didn't seem to care as we are tourists.”

• The experience.
• The layout of the restaurant was a bit strange, but quirky.

“I recently took a trip to Key West with my husband, brother and his wife. We stayed at the Hyatt Windward Pointe, which was a magical experience within itself! I was chatting with someone that owned a unit/week there and they suggested I stop by Iguana Cafe. We all decided to take a scenic bike ride around the island and stopped in for a late lunch. I must say, the place was so adorable - it had just been renovated due to damage from a recent hurricane. Above all, the staff made me feels so welcome, as if I was a close friend. My husband had the Hog Wing Basket, which was suggested (I was hesitant on ordering it). However, these Cuban marinated pork shanks were truly amazing. I begged for their recipe, to no avail. I had the Blackened Mahi Mahi Sandwich, served with Tater Tots (cute) and this wonderful sauce - almost like a remoulade for the tots. My brother and his wife had the special of the day, a home-cooked roasted Cuban Pork with plantains and black beans with rice. The flavors were very vibrant and comforting. We enjoyed our experience so much that afternoon, we stopped by again late at night. The bartender (Eric) made a fabulous Espresso Martini and informed us of their late night menu. We were shocked to find out; they serve their fabulous food until 5am. I suggest, if you're able to enjoy a moment in paradise, you should definitely stop by this hidden treasure. You'll be happy you did and I'm sure you will return for an encore!”

• I do like the food if bit is prepared right.
• I am a honest person and feel that the customer pays for this.

“I have stopped the past year at your restaurant in Alachua , FL and see food going out the front door every morning unpaid there is no telling what goes out the back. You only have a couple of good friendly waiters the rest don't care if they wait on you or not. I have got up and walked out a few mornings my self and went to McDonalds.”

• Best burger on the island! Very thing is fresh and you can get a salad!
• Probably a little overpriced but in line with other good KW places.

“My wife and I have been going to the Half Shell for many years now and it is always good. I suggest having a "Half Shell supper" (as we Southerners call dinner) at happy hour. Boiled shrimp, oysters on the half shell, cold beer, and more at a very decent price. It has become one of our routines over the years and everyone that we have brought with us to KW loves it too.”

• They serve Beer.
• They moved down town to Duval St.

“Teasers was a local Gentleman's Club and Sports Bar no where near Duval St. Since having moved its location to Duval St, it has become just another tourist trap. Another good local bar gone to hell.”

• Food and atmosphere!

“My husband and I ate here during our honeymoon and it was all we hoped it would be. We ate outside by the water and had the most wonderful lobster appetizer. We still talk about it! Anytime someone asks what the best meal we've ever had is, we always say Louie's. Great wine list too. If we ever go back, we'll go there directly.”

“My husband and I have been to the Keys 5 years in a row now and visit the Half Shell every time! Our favorites are the peel and eat shrimp, conch chowder and fried oysters. We love the casual and friendly atmosphere which is the reason we visit Key West in the first place!”

• The Cuban food that they serve is hot fresh, tasty and inexpensive.

“This is a wonderful restaurant. The Cuban food that they serve is hot fresh, tasty and inexpensive. Their sangria is a good drink to wash all the good stuff down with. Be prepared to wait during the busy times. It is well worth the wait. We usually eat there several times a week when in key west.”

“Bad. All kegs were tapped, booze in limited quantity. Fine, we gave them the benefit of the doubt because it was 2 days after new year's eve. But the food was terrible. The fish sandwiches were dry no cheese, no condiments. We asked for tartar sauce and they had none. So we were offered water, which barely washed it down. No excuse to charge ten bucks for that crap. I'm easy to please and this was one of the worst meals I ever had.”

• The ambience and view from the balcony was a great draw.
• As with many key west restaurants, the stairs will be difficult for those with mobility problems.

“My girlfriend and I had dinner there on 11/11. Although we were dressed a little casually, we were greeted warmly and seated at a very intimate table on the balcony. The service was excellent and the food (seafood in a light and peppery red sauce over bowtie pasta) was the best we had that week. Add the bottle of Chianti and dessert -- a wonderful dinner at a reasonable price. ”

• Ants while eating on rooftop were horrific.

“Food was very good, however, watch out for the ants on the roof! My wife came home with welts from the pesky creatures. Manager says they are a real pest and cause problems for their computers, etc.. Manager offered a key lime pie certificate for our next visit!!!! Eat inside!”

• A PLUS! Need I say More

“Off the beat and track a few blocks, away from Duval Street. A small but cozy place! No too fancy! Norm Abram and his lovely wife sat next to my best friend and myself! They have been quest there many times! The key lime pie is just the very BEST and not like any other! ! Our meals was to die for! Can't wake for a return visits! This time we plan to stay at their beautiful Hotel! ”

“This is a must visit eatery if you go to Key West. It is a little pricier, but still reasonable and the food is impeccable. The flavors of the food were just divine. Definitely worth stumbling upon and it is right in the center of Duval Street.”
