Fat Wok 2
Sep 15, 2008 by Sara

Overall Rating: 6 User Rating Score: 6
Food:[8] • Service:[2] • Atmosphere:[5]

  • Good food.
  • Poor customer service.

“We have been regular to this place for 10 yrs. Always liked the food. unfortunately, customer service has been getting worse and worse and even regulars were getting turned away. If you are there to have some good food, it's a good place to go, if you want to have a good time in a relaxed atmosphere, it's not recommended.”

Sweet Tomatoes
Jun 20, 2007 by Paul from San Jose

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Vegetables cut to perfect size & great salad dressings.

“It's all about the food. They cut the vegetables to the perfect size, unlike other salad bars that leave huge pieces. The selection is magnificent. There is no way even kings from the past ate as well as this. I love the soup, I love the bread and butter, I love the speed of the food line, and I'm very, very hungry right now.”

  • Good food, good prices, good choice.

“I have been going to pagoda house with my family since I was little. Their food is absolutely awesome. The service is great and it's nice to see that this mom and pop place is still around. The almond chicken is perfect and the wonton soup is my 1st pick comfort food when I'm sick. Excellent flavor combinations and great prices.”

Cafe Rosalena
May 7, 2007 by Rick from San Jose

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[4] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[4]

  • Nice décor.

“I've tried Cafe Rosalina twice in the year I've lived by the Alameda. The first time, it took forever to get my order (this was early in the day, with few customers in the cafe), and the counter person looked like she couldn't wait to get rid of me. The burrito was okay. I didn't go back for awhile, but decided to give it a try again today. Again, I went in early, and there were few customers. I waited at the counter while the man behind it took copious phone orders. He finally acknowledged me after a few minutes, saying he'd "be right with me", and went back to the phone. During this, another customer came up and asked as he'd been forgotten, as he'd still not gotten his order. With a terse" She's working on it", the counter person went about his business. I left, and won't be going back.”

South First Billiards
Mar 21, 2007 by Erika from Los Gatos

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Atmosphere. Music. Art. Clean and safe.
  • Bathrooms need up scaling.

“Got tired of the Los Gatos scene and decided to risk the downtown. If SJ had more places like south first billiards I¿d probably spend more time there. Love the brick walls filled with unexpected quality art work. The billiards was definitely as upscale as they advertise and the DJ music was just enough to energize our crowd. Put something nice on the big projection screen they have and it would be a very complete nightlife experience. Next time, I¿ll have to try the food, but the looks of it seemed good. I definitely rate this 10 for classy night out with my girlfriends.”

Cafe Rosalena
Jan 15, 2007 by Jess from San Jose

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Food:[9] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • Great food, great atmosphere, friendly people.
  • Extremely busy. Limited seating. High prices.

“I love cafe Rosalina, although the prices are somewhat high, the food is delicious. My boyfriend and I love to meet here for lunch every so often, it's great to get away from our busy schedules and have a charming and delicious lunch together. I highly recommend the chicken Caesar salad. It is by far, the best salad I¿ve ever had. My bf loves their breakfast burritos. They're huge and great tasting. .”

Agenda Lounge
Nov 21, 2006 by Mark DeFugo from San Jose

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[4] • Service:[4] • Atmosphere:[1]

  • Nothing.
  • Do not recommend.

“This place looked good from the advertising and fake reviews. I have been there a total of four times. If it is busy (only on hip-hop nights) I recommend staying away unless you¿re into rude ugly people with absolutely no money. Also the staff was friendly enough but completely clueless on proper educate and sanitation. I have been in the restaurant and hospitality industry for over 20 years now and must say that the agenda lounge and restaurant should be avoided at least until they try to educate their staff a little and cater to people that take showers more than once a week that don't speak true Ebonics. ”

Fuji Sushi
Nov 18, 2006 by Daniel

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • Great food, affordable price for Japanese restaurant.
  • Restaurant size is small, so its little bit hard to find the restaurant.

“Fuji sushi in SJ downtown has a variety of Nigeria and sushi rolls. I really liked the food there and it was little cheaper than other Japanese restaurants. They also have other great Japanese dishes such as bento (great value for food and price), udon/soba (noodles), sashimi, and Danbury¿s. If you are not a sushi fan, I would really recommend trying their bento specials. They have number of items (ex: sashimi, chicken teriyaki) in their special bento boxes and you can also choose your own items if you would like. The price is even cheaper during lunch time on certain bento special. For sushi lovers, I liked b-52 roll and they have fresh hamachi (yellow tail) Nigeria so be sure to check them out!”

Food:[8] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • Too far from where I live now :(

“When I lived in Cupertino and Saratoga for the past 5 years, I used to go there for weekday lunch A LOT. It is my all time favorite. The food is pretty authentic, and for some reason it just fits my appetite. I go there for dinner usually with big group of friends or family. Worth a try!”

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Great Music, bartenders, location, drinks, and IRISH CAR BOMBS.

“This is one of the best bars in downtown San Jose. Easy to get to location, right next to a free parking (after 6) garage. The bartenders are great, and the bar looks amazing. They serve food before 9ish, but I've never been there that early. Hope you like Irish Car Bombs as well... that's the drink of the bar.”

  • Nothing positive.
  • Stay away. Cockroaches under napkins!

“Worst experience in a restaurant ever!!!! When we were seated I lifted up my napkin and found a large cockroach. When the waiter came over I tried to let him know about the cockroach he interrupts me in a babbling arguing tone speaking so fast there was no way to understand him. My husband and I then got up and left.”

Martini Monkey Inc
Jul 23, 2006 by Bella from San Francisco

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Great cocktails, knowledgeable bartenders, cool vibe, great customer service, cool music.
  • Super small bar (can get packed and cramped and hot), it's in an airport.

“One of the best airport bars in the country. Actually, it's a cool bar, despite it being located in an airport. They have a much better selection of alcohol and cocktails than most regular bars in the South Bay, and they have one of the best bartenders in San Jose. They know how to make classic cocktails the right way. In a world of too-cool-for-their-own-good bars and nightclubs, the Monkey is a refreshing change. It's hip and stylish, but in a good way. They know their alcohol, they know cocktails, and the music they play is different and nice. Great atmosphere, funky vibe. If they would serve some food and install free wireless Internet, it would be perfect. We know where to go when in San Jose. ”

South First Billiards
Jun 13, 2006 by Joseph from San Francisco, ca

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[9] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Great place to hang out. Upscale but yet comfortable casual.
  • Music is too loud sometimes.

“If you're tired of clubbing and need a place to hang out, SFB is a great alternative. Its an upscale billiards with a lounge and a 20foot screen TV. They serve great food and have hot waitresses. We had a corporate event there once and that was enough to keep me coming. HUGE SPACE and nice art on the wall--- I wish SF had something like this. ”

  • Your team may not be shown on the many TV's - They love thier Teams !

“this is what I call an old skool/biker-bar/bring your kids restraunt. The oldies play in the back ground from a old skool juke box, the people (some intimidating) are the nicest people in San Jose a very diverse crowd , you can feel the family atomoshere. The pizza is unlike any other I have ever had, the decor is most unique and very interesting (lot's of antiques)”

Ariake Japanese Restaurant
Mar 25, 2005 by F L . from Oakland

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Food:[7] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • Service is fast and servers are friendly. Food portions are satisfying, not too small. low price for rolls.
  • California roll and other sushi: overstuffed (such as with artificial crab, etc). some sushi don't look good to eat

“They get an 8. Overall things go well if you were to dine at Ariake's. For the times I've been there, never had I had a hair in my food or saw a waiter pick his nose. Although the place looks a little run down, I can see they are trying to make it into a sociable environment. They got the loud music on while you dine and lots of people crowd into dinner or lunch there. Enough of the Stevens Creek location. Did you know there is one on El Camino Real? That one is a different experience and has more of a proper feel to it, if you like that. I do like the tempura they serve there and had good dining experiences while on lunch break, but when I have time off I end up at the Stevens Creek Ariake.”

Pizza Jacks
Mar 8, 2005 by R K . from San Jose, CA

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8
Food:[9] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Great pizza, great mexican and great burgers - the whole famile is happy
  • you'll smell like burgers after your visit

“My favorite place for pizza, my girlfriend's second favorite place for mexican.
Good place for family or a few beers and dinner with the guys.
Sports on a few TV's, not a spot for a quiet dinner.
Great place to go before or after events at the Arena.

Medium thickness crust pizzas are delicious. This is regular pizza, not fancy California style. The pizza is also good cold for a couple of days after.

Mexican plates are generous - chile verde is a favorite, chips and salsa served when you sit down.

Heart-shaped bar stools with big guys sitting on them adds a nice comic touch.”
