“This is a dive bar that just happens to have 3 stories. Terrible bar. The music is too loud, the DJ curses constantly. I'm Sure there are better bars the more you go east. If you want to get in a fight though I would recommend you come here. The staff try to find a reason to fight almost every night of the week.”

“Wow! What a treat this place was. It is and the food and service were beyond reproach. We have two more days here in San Diego and I guarantee we will return. Food is prepared fresh and portions are huge. The chicken and dumplings are like my mothers and the chicken actually tastes like chicken. The prime rib was tender without being mushy and flavorful without excessive saltiness or other off putting flavors.”

• The most disorganized scene I have ever seen.

“We were told to come back in 45mins. When we would be given a time to dine. We watched for 30 minutes as the mayhem increased and WW3 looked like breaking out. The scramble outside the door increase and it became clear that there was zero chance of a meal that night. We left and luckily found another place to dine. We saw a number of large groups 15+ left stranded and their night ruined. Avoid the place!”

• Dining are in kind of dark at night.

“Little neighborhood American-Chinese restaurant in a shopping center. Parking can be tricky; there's always space, but you may have to walk a bit. Staff is very friendly and takes care of you promptly. Food is what you expect, but very tasty. Appetizers in good variety; nice selection of entrees and soups, even complimentary ice cream after. I love this place. I either eat in or take out once a week. No MSG! Enjoy.”

• The location was awesome, close to downtown and the bay make this an excellent choice.
• You have to pay to park here, even if you are a guest, $20/day. What a joke.

“The hotel was good for me, my girlfriend, and my little baby girl. It was convenient for us and the location was close to all sporting venues, the bay, and right next to Metro Transit depot for quick rides anywhere.”

“I liked the location of hotel, but the room was in the back and it was first time my wife has ever been to San Diego. I was hoping they would have given me a more decent room so we could have viewed the harbor. I also was not happy about getting paperwork underneath my door in middle of night for extra charges they charge for parking your car there. The room was clean though and staff over all was friendly.”

“Overall a good visit and the room was nice. One front desk person was the only positive staff member encountered. She was great. Upgrade fee for ocean view was worth it. Incredible. A bit noisy due to Harbor Drive and airport but nice overall. Take a harbor cruise, cheap and entertaining.”

• Original staff checking in tried hard to accommodate needs after hotel was having comp problems.
• 2nd staff downgraded our room upon late check in after their comp were down. Hateful woman.

“Rooms were clean but of avg quality. Some staff was helpful. Some staff was snotty and condescending. Computer check in was down, nobody seemed to know what to do. Maid banged on door at 7:45am. Check out was at noon. Didn't speak English. No room service menu in room.”

• Location- within walking distance of a variety of restaurants.
• Did not get room with king bed. Parking spaces were too small.

• Great location, everything excellent except checking in.
• Checking in took over an hour.

“Everything about this hotel was excellent, I would love to stay here again. The only complaint: Prior to check-in (you could NOT until 3 PM) there was 5 People at the front desk at 3 PM there was only one person behind the desk and 30 people in line trying to check in took almost an hour to check-in.”

• The location was fantastic.
• Definitely not three star service, amenities or appearance (example: no hair conditioner, no mini-bar or refrigerator, elevators old).

“This hotel must be rated three-star for it's location, which is fantastic -- right on the Waterfront in San Diego. However, the service and amenities (in my opinion) are really not at a three-star level. For example, shampoo was available but not hair conditioner (nor mouthwash), which I expect at every hotel and usually don't pack. I can't remember the last time I stayed in a hotel that didn't offer all of the bathroom basics. Also, I tried to upgrade to a "bay-side" room with a view for our second night and was told that it was no problem, there was a room available, and that it would be held until our return from the day at Sea World. So after checking three separate times with the front desk that indeed there was a room available to us, my daughter and I packed up our luggage, left it with the bell-hop, and turned in our initial room key. We returned late that evening -- which the front desk knew would be the case -- to find that the upgraded room had been given away. They then had to scramble to just get us into another room for the night (not an upgrade/view). Even though it was really not a huge deal, more just an annoying inconvenience, the front desk clerk and night manager were only slightly apologetic and certainly didn't offer any compensation for their mistake. I feel like a true "three-star" hotel would have been both more responsible and on top of their "system" and if something did go wrong, would have been much more accommodating.”

• Staff was not really friendly, could easily hear person above me at 6 am.

“Young desk staff was not welcoming at all, the telephone operator was very nice and helpful, the maintenance men were nice also but they didn't fix the TV, seemed to forget me. The air conditioning didn't work. Changed rooms to a very noisy air conditioner. It really didn't seem to be a four star hotel. The location was nice, but there are better, nicer places. I could walk a block or two to the Bay.”

• Great location - walking distance from Little Italy and the Gas lamp Quarter.
• Hotel is old and has not been remodeled.

• The room was tasteful and well furnished in Tower II.
• Main desk night staff was dismissive about beds & non-smoking room we requested.

“We had to ask to move to the main tower after staying in the South Tower for one night. The elevator creaked and the sink area was small. Overall, the appearance of the hallways and room was kind of run-down. When we moved to Tower II the next day, we stayed on the 12th floor, which was called Priority Club Level - don't know exactly what that meant. The room and furnishings were a world apart from our previous room. Everything was newly remodeled, including the bathroom which was beautiful. We had a city view so come Monday it was very noisy with construction going on across the street. We'd stay here again, but only if it is in the main tower.”

“The only thing besides the pool was the view we had. The room was very small for two dbl size beds. No closet. The bathroom very tiny area to shower and the tub kept filling up. Would not recommend this hotel to anybody except a single person on the go.”

“The music was great what little we got to hear. The bar says they close at 2 but by 1:40 there was a last call, lights had been turned on and the music stopped completely. All of this was followed by 4-5 guys rudely yelled at people to get out of bar! The service at the bar was slow due to 2 of the 4 bartenders talking on the cell phones!”

• Dirty, musty elevators. Had to call thirty times to get service at front desk.

“Dirty, musty elevators, pool water had foul taste other than chlorine (no I don't intentionally drink pool water), front desk service was slow and unwilling to even try to accommodate my request for better view, maid gave only decaf coffee as refill in room, view was of city street and roof top, no ocean view although it is "on the bay", no sense of being made to feel special at this place. The location is awesome, the restaurant elephant and castle is decent and not outrageously priced.”

• In the glass hotel elevator is a great view.
• The worst customer service and rudeness to guests I have encountered. Must be a mgmt. problem.

• Very loud train every 10 minutes, noisy neighbors, dirty elevators.

“The hotel is in a nice location except for the Amtrak trains that go by every 10 minutes honking it's horn the entire time. The staff was friendly however they did not resolve my issue of very loud next door neighbors out on their deck from 3:30 AM - 5 AM after calling down twice. I would definitely not stay here again.”

• Friendly staff.
• Pool not heated, room noisy, water faucets reversed (hot for cold).

“Our first night was in a room that had a view of the hotel equipment, which was very noisy throughout the night. The faucet in the bathroom had reversed hot/cold, so that we thought at first that there was no hot water. After the first night we went to the front desk and asked for a change of room. The staff was helpful and friendly. The new room was in the older South Tower of the hotel. The view in the second room was excellent, and there were no problems.”

• It had a big bed and it had a balcony so the light can come in the morning.
• You can hear people watching TV from the other room and talking on the phone.

“Over all I didn't spend much time in the hotel but I would stay their again because of the location and the balcony. I didn't like the coolers of the hotel because to me it looked to 80's.”

• The view from the balcony was great.
• The carpet in the room was dirty and the bathroom door didn't close properly or lock.

“This hotel was ok but not a 3 star in my book. The room was pretty small and the carpet wasn't clean. It looked as if the bathroom had recently been re-done but not the rest of the room. The bathroom door was a sliding door with no way of properly shutting or locking. This was really frustrating because my toddler was constantly trying to get into the bathroom and we had to put a suitcase up against the door so he couldn't get in. Also, there were additional charges from the hotel to my credit card that we did not incur. I'm still waiting for them to get back to me about that.”

• Excellent Downtown location - convenient to all major San Diego attractions.
• Room size is small and cramped for two bed.

• I did not like the hotel. It was horrible.
• Front desk personnel were rude. Room was discussing. not worth money to stay in.

“The hotel room at the holiday inn was atrocious. The hotel personnel did not follow up with my request of early check in and room with a view. The bathroom facilities were horrible. The shower pressure was weak. No privacy between the bathroom and bedroom. The bed was located next to the bathroom. Sheets were dingy.”
