• Location.

“This is some of the best Italian food in Dover. You might be fooled by its location, but once you get your food you will be very happy! Its prices are on the higher end for Dover, but so worth it for a nice dinner out...”

“I was in for dinner two weeks ago & couldn't believe how packed it was! Overall my evening was flawless. The service was excellent, food presented well & extremely hot. Desserts a plus also.”

• Good seafood for a reasonable price.
• Decor could be updated.

“I have eaten at this restaurant a few times, each was pleasant. I went based on a recommendation of other travelers and the desk clerk at my hotel. The food was good at reasonable prices. As I am a frequent business traveler to Dover, I will be returning to shockers in the future. The service was adequate, but the decor could use some updating.”

• The value is hard to beat for the portions and quality.
• Atmosphere could be upgraded.

“Friday after thanksgiving my son and I visited this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised with the quantity and quality of the food. The fish sandwich is an outstanding value. The fried seafood combo was also very good.”

• The food is not just your ordinary red sauce and pasta.
• The wait to get out after your meal is finished is TOO LONG!

“Never had a meal we didn't like; our favorite Italian in the area. A little laid back as far as service goes, and the facility could use some updating. We especially like the special soups, the portions are ample, and are always served steaming hot. We nearly always have to wait and wait for the check, then wait and wait for the payment to be processed. The food keeps bringing us back, though!”

• See above. add that they were not prompt opening up at the advertised time.

“The utensils knives and forks were dirty told the waitress they needed a new dishwasher after she brought me the third replacement fork food was terrific presentation was terrific service was accommodating. they need to redecorate. the place looks shabby in the daylight at night looks good.”

• Grumpy staff, unkept quality and appearance make it a poor choice.

“The food quality varies GREATLY. If there at early to mid-peak times, the food is fairly fresh. End of serving times (breakfast on weekends, and lunch in the afternoons) could be unsightly in appearance and terribly overcooked, actually burnt. Most of the time, the broccolis and cauliflower are cold, sometimes room temperature at best; vegetables are rarely hot. The worst thing about the place is the very wide variation of server's attention to detail. Servers are very unseasoned people who are working for the low wages, lack of respect, and little management support. The staff grumbles among themselves and to customers about management, and from what I can see, their complaints are legitimate. The dessert bar is a complete shambles: cakes and cookies are smashed, and crumbs are all over the counters. The floor surrounding the buffet tables are covered with food particles, making them unsightly and slippery. Tables are often neglected, with dirty ones going uncleaned for long periods between guests. Overall, the buffet serves its function but barely so. It is best to keep this restaurant choice as a "Need to eat a quick meal" one. ”

• Amazing, creative and old world style cuisine.
• The store, front layout of the restaurant creates a cramped atmosphere.

“Each of the two visits I have made to Mari Monte Restaurant have been enjoyable. The employees are friendly, helpful and go out of their way to provide excellent service. Although the price range is slightly on the higher end, the gourmet Italian entrees and careful service are more than worth paying a little extra.”

“I visited this restaurant on Wednesday Feb.15,2006, the food was good but the service was not. It seemed like the server was rushing I had a date and was being rushed.”
