“This place is disgusting. Take one look in the kitchen and you won't want to eat their food. Not to mention, all of the cooks and waitresses are in high school! Not worth the time or money.”

“Worst breakfast had ever! I was so disappointed and would never visit again! Hash like dog food, asparagus in omelet hardly cooked, very weak coffee and hollandaise like plastic (stringy and tasteless).”

• A good word for the complete experience of this restaurant.

“I tend to be skeptical when I see charges that a restaurant is snobby and the wait staff is rude, but I found I would have been better advised to have listened to other reviews I've seen. I met a friend there for lunch. The ambiance is reasonably pleasant and the conversation was engaging, but I eventually realized we'd been there for quite awhile and still hadn't been served. The waitress forgot to put in our order or to make sure the chef prepared it. Then, once we had finished our meal and continued our conversation, I began to notice that our waitress had not only removed our food dishes and bread dishes but also had whisked away our glasses of water! I glanced up towards the front of the restaurant and noticed several people were waiting for tables. Before someone came and bodily ejected us to make room for them, I ordered two more glasses of water to make our point. In other words, beware: this place is supposed to be where out of towners can come and spot the occasional celebrity (who presumably is not given the same rush when finished their meal), but unless you don't mind bad service, arrogant management (someone trains their staff to act this rudely), you're far better off giving this place a pass and dining at any one of several much more people-friendly restaurants right there on West Street.”

• Prices, service, quality and quantity of food.
• Presentation not fun or interesting.

“Service was extremely fast and efficient. Prices very reasonable and the food very good, although I think a little more attention could be given to presentation. Even salads and sandwiches can be presented a bit more appetizingly. The soups were extraordinarily good.”

• Food fabulous and service was so fast.
• Probably won't go back on the weekend nights.

“While the food and service is outstanding, I was there with some friends for karaoke night and it was pretty rowdy. The owners did nothing to diminish foul language and bad behavior directed at those who frowned upon this. It was a real turn-off. Not sure Ill go back again even though the food was great. I'm all for having a great time and it is a bar however. Not establishing what is tolerable and comfortable for all patrons is a big mistake in my mind. It was like a free-for-all. Finding a happy medium is what great establishments should strive for in my opinion..”

“While it isn't a place you should bring your children, this restaurant is perfect for a night out drinking with friends. The bands are usually very good and the pizza is even better.”

“We have been going to the Village for years and every year its getting better and better. It is apparent they have an exceptional kitchen crew and the servers as well. This summer the food hit an all time high. Great specials, perfectly spiced and very creative. A great meeting place for friends as well. It feels like home. .”

• Overall, atmosphere and superior food and drink value.
• Having to go home when the night's over!

“This is a no bs wysiwyg darn good restaurant and great place to hang out, as both the management/staff and populating patrons (mostly locals from Litchfield (and nearby surrounding towns) are friendly and agreeable. The food is quite good and truly a superb value. The drinks are generous, and attended to by competent bartenders. The village is equally appropriate for sit-down fine dining, informal pub noshing and just relaxing/socializing at the bar. Usually I order from the pub menu at the bar, because it's superior to pub menus elsewhere. For example, yes, you can get the hearty order of buffalo chicken wings (and they are far better than the average elsewhere), but you can also get a Caesar salad with a huge hunk of salmon on it. The dirty martinis are great! Always many smiles, laughs, good food and drink and good times at the village! I also take clients and business associates here.”

“We brought our office to west street grill and had a fabulous dinner and time. The food was wonderful, especially the secret specials. The wine selection is great. It is a great combination of gourmet and local color. The owners are wonderful! Every one of our group felt this was a great experience! We recommend.”

• Crisp crust, great toppings, open fires in winter.
• Kids waiting tables not always so great. drunks at ditto may wander into the dining room.

“Roadhouse meets pizza parlor. A bit salty -- Ditto the bar attached is not for the faint of heart -- this place is not for the linen table cloth crowd but the pizza is definitely one of the top in the county. Corn meal dusted crust and excellent toppings (meats come from Nodine's) with not too sweet sauce make this place our regular spot.”

“THE place in Litchfield. The moment you walk in the door, you feel comfortable. Locals and tourists peacefully coexist. The service is absolutely the best - friendly and attentive. The menu is diverse, ranging from the best cheeseburger in the county to higher-scale entries. The wine list always has a couple of nice surprises and the pouring portions are generous. The bar has the quintessential pub atmosphere and the separate dining room is a bit more upscale. A jewel.”

• Good atmosphere, clean, friendly staff, mariachi band
• Fair food, parking

“The best thing about this place is definitely the atmosphere. If you're looking for a lively evening out, this is the place to go. The food was just OK, not great. The staff was friendly and the strolling mariachi band is a great festive touch.”
