“The food was good, the service was ok, but the waiter tired to charge more. For the total bill, I paid by credit card and added tip to the total bill. When my bill cleared the bank, the waiter had charged more than what I wrote on the receipt! The second time we went (this was before I knew about the bill) was a couple days later and the restaurant was totally open and we were told we had to wait 20 minutes! This was during a lunch break in the middle of the week, not even a busy time at all. We told the waitress that we were on lunch break and couldn't they seat us faster and she said maybe 15 minutes. There were open seats in half the restaurant! We left.”

“Rude and expensive. Would like them to understand a little more English.”

“Apart from the sushi and other authentic Japanese meals, Goro has some fantastic combination plates that we have been getting for at least 10 years. Our favorite is the C6, shrimp tempura, chicken teriyaki, and California roll. The dinner comes on a huge plate complete with potato salad! And lettuce with a side of rice and 2 courses ahead of the Enter, a bowl of delicious Mizo soup and a very tasty salad. My mouth is watering just thinking of it! But Ill have to wait a couple hours since it's still mid afternoon.”

“We live a distance from Taiko's so we usually do take out. Their food is second to none! And when we do eat there, we feel like they are just at our bacon call. They are great.”

“Sushi quality is inconsistent, often tough and chewy, sometimes ok. Hours are unreliable. You might walk in one night an hour before closing and learn that it's "last call". Need to order your entree immediately as they're closing the kitchen. If you're a late eater, stay away from this place. Service is "forced friendly. Polite enough, but one gets the feeling it's not genuine. Overall, Id go elsewhere. There are plenty of other choices in and around Irvine.”

“Beware of the 2 Latina looking girls working at Chipotle. I had a brush with them in the parking lot of the spectrum a couple of weeks ago. They were driving a white gx470 Lexus around lunch time. I was waiting for a car that was backing out of his space and the 2 girls were behind me. The driver of the backing car apparently is taking his time to back out. The girl driver of the gx470 sped up and took a parking space a good distance away from where I am supposed to park. When I already got my spot and was walking towards the spectrum, I saw them looking and talking about me. I know they are talking about me coz I understand a bit of Spanish. They were laughing too, apparently because I was waiting for the guy to back out and there was an available spot a few meters away. What is up with that? To each his own. Excited with Chipotles opening, but if I ever see those 2 girls in the gx470 Lexus around; I will definitely have to find another place.”

“We've been going to gore¿s for 2 years now and like the authentic food prepared and served by Japanese Nationals. I lived in Japan for a long time and appreciate places like gore¿s that haven't been "Americanized". They also are accommodating for things that aren't on the menu such as 'Namesake undo'. Their take-out is quick, too.”

“The staff became very rude when asked if they use MSG. The response was "do you expect me to tell you the exact grams?" followed by a quick "We're very busy here." Why subject yourself to this treatment with all of the sushi options around? Will not return.”

“Particularly well-suited to serve UCI students, meals are prepared fast and are mostly portable. Service is excellent and very friendly. The restaurant itself, while small, is large enough to accommodate moderate-sized parties while allowing for solitary diners to eat undisturbed at their own barstool-height tables; more importantly, it is clean without feeling sterile. Interior decoration is minimal without being minimalist; rather, it is a perfect example of elegance in simplicity. Most appealing to the student on a budget, though, are the prices - five dollars will buy a bowl of rice and your choice of meats (chicken among others) which is surprisingly filling and delicious; imported soft drinks/iced tea/water are reasonably priced at about a dollar. Other traditional Japanese foods - sushi, included - are available for the diner looking for something a little more exotic, also reasonably priced.”

“The tables are incredibly close together, so that if you go with 1 other person, you end up sitting basically at the same table as the people next to you. The food is good, but incredibly overpriced. For example, I ordered Tuna Shashima. I got 8 tiny little pieces of tuna, and was charged $9.75. This came with no soup, no salad. Their lunch menu is sort of ok, but the default 4 piece sushi they give you is completely non-negotiable, and includes one piece of cooked shrimp over a piece of rice, and no salmon. They also like to give you your bill about 3 minutes after your food, making you feel almost like they're rushing you out. This is based on giving this place probably 10 chances, because I can't find another good sushi restaurant close to work unfortunately.”

Restaurant Taiko “This is a wonderful restaurant that isn't a big chain so it's homey but right for business travelers. The food is wonderful and the waiters are nice. It's hard to find such a nice restaurant nowadays. ”
