“I just returned home after a less-than-pleasant experience at the Cock of the Walk (CW) restaurant in Opelika, Alabama. I should have realized that the CW was not my type of place when we reached the table to find a pile of metal plates and metal pitchers, only to discover that we would also have to drink from small metal cups. It seemed more like place settings that I had seen on shows about prison on television. Nevertheless, I adjusted and withheld any negative critiques. When we finally received our cornbread, I was pleased with the taste of it, along with the coleslaw. However, about an hour later, when we received our entrees, my food was beyond unacceptable. The sweet potato was tiny, and the shrimp and craw fish were both cold and anorexic looking. (Another person within my party had ordered the same entree but received very plump shrimp.) The entire plate had the appearance that was inadequate to present to my dog. Well, I politely shared my dissatisfaction with our server. She said there was nothing she could do and that she would send the manager. A few minutes later the manager arrived. I again politely shared my dissatisfaction. The manager immediately became indignant, defensive and loud. She pointed her finger at my face while proclaiming that they serve nothing but the best there. She promptly left after saying she would send more food. My dining companions were flabbergasted and quite upset with her disrespectful and rude behavior. Thankfully, I did not respond in kind to her, choosing instead to attempt to recapture the pleasant evening my companions and I were having prior to the managers ridiculous display, since it was Valentines Day and my sisters birthday. Needless to say, my appetite was ruined, I did not dare partake of the new order of sweet potato and shrimp the server later brought. I will never dine at any Cock of the Walk restaurant again.”

“The most incredible Asian food in Alabama. Mandarin House has incredible sushi and Thai, as well as a great Chinese buffet. The sushi chef used to work at Nobu in Miami, and he is wonderfully creative with his rolls. If you tip well, he will take extra good care of you and even treat you to things that aren't even on the menu. Must ask for the Red Dragon roll! The atmosphere and service are also excellent. The only better sushi that I've ever had is in New York, and that is saying a lot because I've been to just about every 5-star place in my home town of Atlanta. I took my whole family here after graduation, and everyone was blown away, even those who claimed that they didn't like sushi.”

“Chuck's BBQ is by far the absolute best BBQ ever. Prices are outstanding. The ribs are heavenly. The smell of cooking meat just makes your mouth water. It is so good! If you are ever in the area you have to eat the best BBQ around at chuck's BBQ.”
