• No frills,doesn't pretend to be something it is not.
• Like most places down here, you have to tell them to put the sauce on the side. This is not really a fault though, it's just how it's done down here.

“Originally from Memphis TN and a 25 year gulf coast transplant, I can tell you that good BBQ is a true rarity in these parts. At the brick pit they do it right though. Like most places South of Grenada they do want to put the sauce right on the meat, so you have to tell them, 'sauce on the side' and you got yourself a pretty authentic que experience. The service is no frills order up style and th staff is genuinely friendly. The atmosphere is also no frills but thats exactly what you should be looking for in good pig joint. This place is very close to the USA campus so it fills up and can be crowded for lunch. Parking has usually not been an issue though. They have a nice parking lot behind the smokehouse with lots of shade from big live oaks. You can get a good whiff of whats to come as you walk past it toward the front door. All in all, this place sort of reminds me of lots of those old general stores and meat deli style places that you might find scattered throughout rural South-Western TN and out in the county around Memphis. It is an oasis in a desert otherwise devoid of decent que.”

• Food, service and servers.
• They are not open on Sundays!

“This restaurant is absolutely the best. I have not tried the chicken but I cannot get great fresh seafood that often and have tried every seafood that they have. It is the best food, the best service and best Southern hospitality! If I could spend one week in Mobile I would try everything on the menu but would only get something other than seafood if I had OD'd on seafood! I am totally confident that the chicken is the best too.”

• I have always loved to go to this restaurant. The food is great.
• I wish that they were able to get a bigger building. They have a lot of business and sometimes parking is difficult.

“This restaurant is good home cooking. There are a variety of meats and vegetables. You are sure to find something that you like and you are sure to enjoy the food. The prices have gone up but it is well worth the money.”

• Completely enjoyed the fried chicken and the family-friendly atmosphere and service.
• Some, from the large variety, of the sides need improvement.

“While some of the side items are lacking, the fried chicken is heaven! Haven't had the seafood, yet hear from many it is fantastic as well. The atmosphere is family-friendly, and the building and design is down-to-earth home-like, where one feels comfortable and relaxed. Dress is comfortable casual. You will not be disappointed.”

• Nothing.

“Bama Belles is one of the best Restaurants that I've been to. The food is great and the service is wonderful! They have the best and biggest Hamburgers I've ever eaten before. You have to try this place.”

• The last time we dined, our waitress was absolutely fun and energetic.
• The non-carpeted floors make it noisy; but that adds to the character.

“Wintzell's is always on my place to eat when we go to Mobile. The gumbo is delicious and the crab cakes are the best around and very unusual.”

• Best food anywhere.
• There may be a wait for a table.

“Big Time Diner has some of the best turnip greens anywhere. The fried fish and cheese steak sandwiches are something special as well. Well, everything there is terrific. Just look at the other diners' plates and you'll be sure to see something you'll like. You would be disappointed unless you try going on Sunday. They are closed! ”

• Fried chicken.
• Be there by 11:30 for lunch or you'll have to wait.

“Neighbors has the best fried chicken I have ever tasted and I grew up in the deep south. The chicken dinner plates are great but do not forget about their seafood.”

• There food, atmosphere, and service is one of the best. Their fried rice is awesome!
• Sometimes it gets kind of hot.

“Mikato is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Their food is to die for! If you go there be sure to order a extra bowl of fried rice and if you want a treat pour the sauce with the sesame seeds over the rice.. one word, YUM! the people are extremely friendly and its an all around awesome experience.”

• Good food and plenty of it, family atmosphere, friendly and timely service
• Can be crowded

“Big Time Diner is a rare find. Decorated in a fifty's theme, the food here cannot be beat. The selection ranges from home-cooked meats and vegetables, to fried seafood dinners, sandwiches, soups, and salads. (The gumbo is homemade and hard to beat anywhere.) All of it is excellent and comes in healthy portions. The service is good and you will be suprised to see the staff made up of mostly young people. all of whom will hustle to get what you need. All in all, it is a must visit experience when in town. Do come early. It is first-come, first-serve seating and they can be hard to get.”
