User Reviews for Cullman Restaurants« Go back to Ames HotelsResearch User Reviews for Cullman (1-8 of 8)Carltons Italian
“I was disappointed with this Italian restaurant as they have a limited menu and really don't offer the real Italian dishes like Veal Saltimbocca or Marcela. They are more a meatballs and spaghetti or a lasagne kind of place. People seemed to like their sandwiches a good bit but I guess I went in expecting more. Cullman needs a real good Italian restaurant as they are clearly lacking in this area.”

“You can't go wrong with Captain D's. If you are looking for good seafood in a fast food environment without the high prices of a big seafood restaurant, Captain D's can't be beaten. They have a good selection too.”

“I arrived at he restaurant at 12:30 PM and and had to sit at a table that was not cleared from the past customer. It was 1:07 pm when our drink order was taken. It was 10 minutes till she returned with our drinks so we had to catch another waitress to take our food order. It was 1:15pm by now. We received our food pretty quick. It was overwhelmed at lunch and service throughout was slow and sporadic. This is not a good place to eat lunch and service was terrible. Unless you have an hour or two to blow. Dinner is not much better for we had the same experience the last time we ate there. I liked it better before they moved to the new location.”

“My friend and I noticed a sign on I 65 proclaiming Johnny's to have been voted best bib in Cullman for 10 years straight. We both are BBQ fanatics. I must say out of a 100 or so BBQ restaurants that I have visited this place are by far the worst. The meat looked like it had been through a grinder. The beans came right out of a camp bells can. The voters must either be family members or employees. I just can't emphasize enough how awful the food was.”

“This a.m. we ate gravy and biscuit for breakfast. My husband found a piece of a toothpick in his and carried it to the young man at the counter. He just threw it away and went on about his business. We will not go back. The gravy has not had any sausage pieces the past two times we ate there. We are finished with Hardees. Nobody seems to care about the service anymore.”

“Best pizza I have ever eaten. Locally owned and operated. Seemed to be a local favorite.”

“I enjoyed the best steak I've ever eaten, and I've eaten a lot of steaks! It was cooked to perfection--thick, juicy, and tender. The sides were equally delicious. Our server was friendly, efficient, and helpful. My husband and I drove forty-five miles to celebrate our thirty-fifth anniversary with dinner here, and the atmosphere was marred only by the cap on the head of the guy in the next booth (NOT the fault of the restaurant!). I would suggest going at dusk/dark for a more romantic atmosphere.”

“I went there for dinner and loved the food. It is worth the trip and the orange rolls served at the end of the meal were terrific. The only draw back for me was that you can not get a glass of wine with the meal (Cullman is dry). But despite the lack of wine the food was exceptional.”
