“Good food, but not the best I have had. Prices out of reach on a regular basis. Felt overcharged with entrees. Might go here once or twice a year for a special guest! With the economy especially what it is now, this restaurant would be only for the wealthy on a regular basis. Maybe prices could be somewhat less possibly with smaller portions or some foods that needed less artistry or preparation. I am originally from New Orleans and several restaurants equal or are superior to hot and hot at a lesser price for great entrees, appetizers and desserts and superior wine lists. If any of these suggestions will be followed, maybe I might become a regular!”

“I've ate with my family at every restaurant on hwy 280 and for food taste and service there's only one other restaurant that come close.”

“Worst, greasy onion rings I've ever eaten. Salad was typical iceberg lettuce with little else. Coconut cream pie crust was reminiscent of cardboard and the filling was definitely from a mix. Unless you enjoy eating greasy, unhealthful food, don't bother going to this place. Better off with a chicken wrap from Chik-Fil-A.”

“Had to go to Alabama on a military trip. I've been a lot of places and so far this is where its at ! I'm not a big review writer so ill keep it short and simple. If you stop through Alabama you must go here. The corn bread is the best I've ever tasted and the food is awesome. I really wish they would open a place down in South Florida.”

“The food is burgers and fries, done as well as anyone else ever has. The onion rings, fried mushrooms, and French fries are all top notch. The Feed Bag appetizer has plenty of all three for $6. Their burgers are great, their sandwiches are great and their appetizers are great. Expect to spend $9 for a combo that is worth every penny. Have your fries with A-1 steak sauce instead of ketchup. The sour cream horseradish dipping sauce is fantastic. They have a limited but adequate selection of beer and liquor. Alabama drinks are required to contain less than a certain amount of alcohol (I think 1.75 oz) so you may find them a little lacking. Stick to beer. The only thing that's bad is their new hours. They are closed for lunch; they open at 4 pm and close when the last customer leaves. I used to eat lunch there, as did everyone else who worked at UAB. I now go to Becky's South, which is almost as good, and a little cheaper.”

“Although the food was nice I was amazed to see the owner yelling at his staff in the dining room. Especially when the owner didn't even make sure to have enough of the "special" for the evening. I hope he yelled at himself for making such a mistake. I will probably go back but only if my lady insists. I can stand a pompous owner who berates his staff and considers himself better than anyone else.”

“Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Worth every penny. Would recommend it to everyone. Watching them prepare the food is such fun and so interesting.”

“Simply put, this restaurant is extraordinary. The chef, who has been there less than a year, puts out the most consistently delicious food to be enjoyed in this city. Having previously lived in New York and New Orleans, I would confidently predict that the meals I've had at The Veranda would compare favorably to anything available in those culinary Meccas. If you ever get the chance, be sure you don't miss this experience before the chef moves on to bigger and better things. My highest recommendation.”

“Fast service with specialty sandwiches and burgers made to order. All sauces, dressings and batters, beer and buttermilk, are made to order. Best huge onion rings. Large selection of sandwiches (35) providing something for everyone. Also, has bar side of business with games and pool tables, TV. Allows smoking in bar where you can eat.”

“Even if anyone is a little unsatisfied with the service, food, to whatever, you have to admit, compared to the fast food, gross, unfriendly, and time-limited restaurants out there, Als is the best in town. Open 24/7, u never go hungry. Meals are filling, try to get some chicken fingers from Arbys and see what you get. Drinks are free for students. Atmosphere is awesome. You can read, study, or just chat with friends any time of the day. It is so close to most dorms. So convenient for hospitals. You can call in and they will have your food ready. You go in and order, and most of the time your food is ready before you are done filling up your drink. What else can you ask for. One thing to remember. If any of the employees seems rude to you? Remember, it is stressing to serve the number of people who come in there all day long. It is hot inside. It is a tough job. So take and give.”

“This is my favorite restaurant ever! They have wonderful food. They are now open for lunch, 10:30 - 1:30 and dinner from 4:00 - 9:00 (or 10:00 on weekends). The only drawback, and it's a small one compared to all the good things about this place, is that the building itself is a little on the small side. Therefore, the tables are closer together and the volume level is a little louder. Still I would recommend this place to anyone who likes Italian food. I personally like it better than the olive garden. Try it for yourself.”

“We ate at gianmarco's last January (2005) during a business trip. And we are going back there again and again and again. I have traveled a great deal and have eaten at some very fine restaurants and this rates with the best for Italian food. Even in Italy.”

“Food is fair and service is almost nonexistent. If you would like a specialty item you will need to get someone to translate, as most of the employees behind the counter do not speak English.”

“We were working in the Birmingham area for about three weeks and found Lovoy's after about three nights of fast food. Buy far some of the best Italian food that I have ever eaten. The food was so good that we ate there almost every night for the remainder of our trip. We had almost everything on the menu and did not find anything that was not out of this world. Go on a Wednesday night for the wine tasting party. If you are traveling to the Birmingham area you MUST try Lovoy's. The best stuffed shells I have ever eaten, great steaks, outstanding seafood. We will be back the next time we are in the Birmingham area.”

“This is hands down the best small restaurant in the area that serves fresh Italian. The wait staff is very attentive to the wants of their customers. The food is always fresh with new dishes constantly being created and tried. It is worth making reservations for dinner. Lunch time for both food and service are great.”

“There are so many great things on the menu for people of all tastes. Stick to the Mediterranean and you won't be disappointed. They have a great Z sauce that they put on the Gyros. Their baked potatoes are a meal all their own. Pass on the coke and get their tea. It's a great spearmint tea. The fries aren't my favorite, but everyone I go there with says they're excellent.”

“I had just been told about the Gain Marco's several times but never bothered to get reservation and never could get in. Finally a good friend said it was his favorite Italian restaurant, so I got reservation. Neat place to eat, food is great and very reasonably priced. Good at lunch and dinner. Get reservation! ”

“Jim N Nick's is a very popular barbeque place and a great place for casual dining. It really isn't a drinking place, it's a restaurant. Great atmosphere for families. It is very laid back. I have never had a bad meal, but barbeque is their thing. It is a chain restaurant so there are several around the city and they are always packed.”
