• The Greek Salad was excellent.
• Extremely poor service.

“I am staying in Bessemer, Alabama for a while working on a project near here. I asked the hotel clerks for a restaurant suggestion and was given The Bright Star Restaurant as their best choice. It was one of the worst restaurant experiences in my 57 years. The greeting and service were friendly enough at first. I ordered one of the $26 menu specials that included a delicious Greek Salad and a properly baked potato. Also included were a Lobster and Crab Au Gratin, Snapper Greek Style and Beef Tenderloin. The Lobster and Crab were okay. The Greek Snapper was a very thin piece of fish deluged with so much butter sauce it was like eating fish in butter soup. The steak (ordered medium rare) was a very thin piece of beef that had been pounded with a meat-tenderizing mallet that rendered it un-recognizable. It was also swimming in the same butter bath with the fish. I ordered a clean plate and soaked the butter from the fish and beef with napkins. I had decided to take it with me and make a sandwich for lunch the next day. The waitress brought the bill but no go container. When asked she said she would get my food to go. She then brought me a container with a piece of beef (no fish or bread) and the meat was covered with vegetable and salad debris. I inquired about this and was told it had to be retrieved from the buss bin. At this point I overheard the owner inquiring of the waitress if I had paid my check (I had with tip). I guess the worst things here were the owners lack of interest and the attempt to send me off with food essentially from the garbage. Never again.”
