• The food.

“Me my wife, son and my brother in law ate there today at 11am, most of the food on the bar was left overs from the night before, even the steak was from the night before warm on outside cold in the middle. One of the wait staff was chasing after a child through the dinning room. Chicken Pot Pie was cold, Fish was dry, the only good thing was the Fried Chicken and the Cokes. if you decide to go after lunch, maybe the food will be fresh.”

“The slowest service I've ever had. This was the third and last time I ate there. Besides being over an hour to get our food to us they even messed up the orders and brought us wrong selections. I saw the cooks going in and out the door using cell phones instead of doing their job, not to mention they looked like convicts! Really I'd eat somewhere else because the food is just average but the service is poor.”

“Amazing specials. When I visit this restaurant that is what I always get. Lets the talent of the chefs shine in ways that they work the best. I do have to say though that the service is the worst or all restaurants in Morgantown. Not only did the service lack major effort, but when I asked to speak to a manager, this guy comes out, and basically tells me that it was our tables fault, and that because of us everyone else's service was going to be miserable. Rude! Not only did we ever ask for anything other than a simple drink refill because we were sitting in the sun and hot, which I hope is understandable, but my god, it shouldn't be hard to refill drinks. But. here I am writing a review instead to get out some anger and to let others know about the lack of effort that the wait staff and manager puts into the restaurant. The owners should really look into finding another manager ASAP!”

“Tucked away off the main drag you can find real home cooking. You enter a standard eatery with booths and tables and simple decorations. We were greeted with a genuine hello and smile, and given our choice of seating. The chalkboard listing the specials up front made the menus unnecessary. We both opted for the baked steak along with gravy and baked potato and green beens. With your meal you are treated to what might be the tallest, lightest rolls this traveler has had the pleasure to devour - simply divine. Service was timely, with a friendly attitude. Prices were average. Portions average to large. Food was flavorful and did remind me of something served in a home kitchen rather than out on the road. Sopping up gravy with that soft roll took me back quite a few years. Unfortunately we were so stuffed we could not experience one of their numerous pie offerings; oh well-next time. Observing other diners lead me to conclude that the majority were locals, eager to get down to the dinning room for another good meal. Overall this place is a winner, cause after all it is about the food.”

• It was raining while we were there and a little asphalt on the parking lot wouldn't hurt.

“The atmosphere is what makes the place. No, its not beautiful its fun. The food was great. We posted our dollar on the wall and had fun. It wasn't dirty at all. It was well worth our 30 minute drive from Summersville with our family from Baltimore. Two thumbs up!”

“I loved Ali Baba's when it was Voyagers and I love it now that it's back to being Ali Baba's. It is a family-owned restaurant. The food is good and there are a couple private tables if you want a more romantic atmosphere. The menu is a variation of American and middle-eastern food and there is always a delicious special or two offered. They have the best Reubens I've ever had and the middle-eastern salads are great. Don't leave without ordering the baklava for dessert if you still have room.”

“I was visiting WV for the first time and found this restaurant. WV was beautiful this time of year! Unfortunately, this restaurant was awful. Would recommend it to travelers. This restaurant was far from the high end establishment that they try to convey with the incredibly expensive but average meals and failed service.”

• That I couldn't move right away and become part of the team.

“I stumbled upon the Sedona Grille and Cantina on a dark and stormy night! I had an awesome martini and appetizer and was treated like a queen. The decor was so attractive with beautiful colors, art and fixtures. I sat at the bar and imagined coming back in the summer to rock and roll with the locals and tourists. I didn't have a full meal, but the menu was inspiring and upon hearing that the owners were from the Southwest I knew that it would be delightful.”

• Cheap on the coffee drinks.

“Do not order the Iced Mocha - they give it to you in a very small size and charge the large price. It is an 8 oz glass. The Iced Mocha in Oak Hill McDonald's is 20oz or the biggest size you can get for the same price 2.78 plus tax comes to 2.96. The Iced Mocha in Oak Hill is rich in chocolate and milk and coffee with a huge amount of whipped creme on it. The one in Beaver does not know how to make them correctly. The grilled chicken sandwich does not have the flavor as the other McDonald's have. They do not put the marinade on it - so, it has a bland taste.”

“My fiancée proposed to me at Blackhawk Grill and it was incredibly romantic. After an awesome dinner (I had chicken and pasta, he had steak) I kept wondering why none was bringing us a desert menu, and then all of a sudden I have a huge plate of desert in front of me and my boyfriend is on one knee proposing to me. All of the waiters came out to congratulate me and signed a copy of the desert menu for me to put in my scrapbook. Awesome scrapbook!”

“I personally thought the food was outstanding. However, when you factor in the service and all of the other partying that goes on in the restaurant it is not a very inviting atmosphere. If you are an outside traveler I would recommend this restaurant. However, for all West Virginia citizens I would not recommend supporting such a low class owner. The cursing that comes through the kitchen and conversations that are heard around the bar area are not for public preference.”

“I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes for my food. Usually when I go I get my food in about 7 minutes. The chips and salsa are amazing but I always get the cheese dip. Best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. And on certain days of the week margaritas are buy one get one free!”

“This is not authentic at all. The burritos are in a large (store bought) tortilla, but they're filled with ground beef, not shredded. With a meal you get beans and rice, some shredded lettuce and salsa for 8 bucks. Staff was friendly.”

“This restaurant has the best pizza I've eaten since moving to the Clarksburg area. The square pizzas are especially good. The atmosphere is alright, but decorations are at a bare minimum. The emphasis is definitely on the food. The service is good as long as you don't get the old man (may be Veto). I've witnessed him be rude to more than one customer and he even blamed one lady for her order being wrong. They also only accept cash or cheque. A little inconvenient when you usually have a debit card with you.”

“Probably one of the best is Archie's Lake house located next to the Sunset Beach Marina on Cheat Lake neat Morgantown, WV. The menu is slightly above average (if you're a vegetarian, best to go elsewhere) with a decent selection of entrees, sandwiches, salads, etc. at reasonable prices. But where this restaurant loses points (and my business) is with its wait staff. I have not been here when service was not slow and inattentive, and this is why I return only occasionally at the urging of friends. I will have to learn not to listen to these friends, because last evening's 2- hour long dining experience (not a huge multi-course meal, mind you, but sandwiches and two hard-fought-for drinks) was frustrating at best. Yes, the food was good, but the server disappeared for long periods, never being around when drink refills were needed and, worst, when my friend's meal arrived totally wrong and everyone (but she) was done eating before we were able to pin down the location of our waitress. Also, I would never go here when I couldn't be seated outside. An amber haze hangs over the interior dining area and the cigarette smoke makes it difficult to even wait inside for a few minutes to be seated at an outdoor table.”

• Miss the piano player from the 70's.

“We have been eating here for 40 years and it just keeps getting better as time goes bye. The filet is top notch, none better anywhere in WV. The service is excellent. The menu has something for everyone, I love the liver pate and the onion rings. We usually have the filet or the surf and turf and have never been unhappy with our choices. I do not think of The Wonder Bar as a steakhouse, I think of it as a classic special occasion! Steakhouse is too plain a term to cover the atmosphere and the style of food and service offered at The Wonder Bar. Dress up, take someone you love and go to dinner with a champagne glass view of the city of Clarksburg. Expect to impress your date or clients with an evening at The Wonder Bar, the attention to detail, the service and the food will make you a star.”

“Awesome food and drink. Great prices, great atmosphere, and the best food! Great home cooking traditional Italian food. My family of three had 4 glasses of wine (soda for the little one), appetizers, salad, dinner (big platters- not just little things) and desserts for around $50! Will go back and will get frozen next time I go!”

• My wife enjoyed her meal.
• Poor service and no response to complaint about my meal.

“Stopped in while traveling through the area. Very disappointed in the service and one of our meals. Very little Pulled Pork on sandwich. Waitress nor cashier seemed to care when we mentioned that fact. Waitress did not return and therefore we never got to order dessert. When we entered, many tables were sitting with dirty dishes and were not cleared off the whole time we were there. Would not return because of the attitude of the workers toward customer concerns.”

“I had Surf and Turf at the Wonder Bar. The filet had the most wonderful flavor and was cooked a perfect medium rare and was very tender. I do not know where they get their beef but this filet was the best filet I've had in a really long time. The South African lobster tail was sweet and melted in my mouth. I cannot wait to return to Wonder Bar and enjoy the food again. Also, their house wine was excellent!”

“The food is top notch, but the delivery has issues. My wife and I recently reserved a table for 8:30 pm; however, we were asked to wait at the bar and were not seated until 8:50 pm. This has happened two or three times in the past. When we were seated, the hostess thanked us for our minute wait. This is not conducive to return visits. When a meal costs over $100, one is dismayed to receive snotty remarks from the staff. The food is excellent though.”

“I have had dinner here several times on company and personal business. I have never been disappointed with the food or the service. Large portions, nice atmosphere, historic building. Everyone that I have ever taken here has enjoyed it very much also. Prices are a little high but the food is well worth the cost.”

• It was close to the casino, and places to eat.
• There was no clock, or coffee maker in the room.

“The room and price was reasonable for the area (casino), the staff was very friendly and courteous, the only thing needed was a clock to be in the room to see what time it is, and a coffee maker so you don't have to go to the lobby. Also it's very close to the casino, so that's a major plus. I will definitely stay here again.”

• You could get a presentable meal for the money if they wait on you.
• For some unknown reason they might not wait on you.

“I have been in the Mountaineer Family Restaurant of Parkersburg with my family on five occasions. On only two occasions was I waited on served food? On three occasions no one waited on our table after 20-30 minutes of being seated! I don't think this was some form of discrimination; it was just shear stupidity and poor management on their part. My family and I have never been denied service at any other restaurant before, and we are not in any minority group. Being denied service three times at one establishment is almost bizarre! I don't know exactly what their problem is, but I recommend that you avoid the place. Just eat next door or across the road from them and save yourself some time and hassle.”
