• The waiter.

“In general I like Waffle House. My wife and I do not like this particular Waffle House. The waiter there lied about the existence of a special combination (Chili and Sandwich and drink, $4.99; a la carte total about $7) and when twice given the chance to make it right, took both opportunities to obfuscate and defend himself. It was only a $2 difference in the bill, but it is the principle of the thing. Avoid this restaurant.”

• Stale, dry food and I don't care attitude.

“Food was dried out and had been in server for extended period. Excuse was given that they did not intend to be open for breakfast that day, but ads were run by mistake by TV and newspaper. When we saw that the food was dried out and several items were down to last serving, we were advised that they were not cooking anymore and would be shutting down the buffet. We should have excused ourselves instead of eating dry food with limited selection. Reaction of wait staff was "that's just the way it is".”

“Brads BBQ in Oakland is by far the best restaurant in Fayette County. Brads serves the freshest food and has great employees. It is very family oriented and very fast service. I love their BBQ and I absolutely love the smoked Turkey Sandwich. I very much love to walk into Brads BBQ and smell the BBQ smoking in the smokers. It always reminds me of how fresh the food is. Way to go Brads BBQ!”

• The food is fantastic and really cheap for how much they give you.
• Absolutely nothing.

“I went to a conference right down from the City Cafe and everyone kept telling us to eat there. It was incredible! The Chicken Sandwich I ordered covered the entire plate. After eating a fourth of it, I was full. I order a slice of Red Velvet Cake for later that night, and it was the most delectable creation that has ever entered my mouth! Simply amazing.”

“It was busy. The waitress was impatient. We kept asking her to give us a couple minutes. Finally our plates came, my sons chicken was raw in the middle. They said sorry and said we didn't have to pay for it. So he left hungry. We gobbled down our hamburger and left. Not again.”

“I came in and ordered two hot dogs and a drink. I started to eat them, they were hot, not with fire, like they had put hot sauce on them. I know that your slaw isn't hot because children eat it, but mine was so if anyone ever ask me, I will tell them not to eat there. I was the one in the 18 wheeler and if I ever come through there again I will stop and let them know. Just thought the manager or owner might want to know what they are doing to the customers. Trying to get a good laugh, good thing that I could eat hot stuff. It was about 4:30.”

• Sometimes gets overrun by university visitors.

“Wonderful food, especially the sandwiches. The desserts and baked goods are amazing. In cooperation with a center for battered women from the area, part of their recovery is training and working at the restaurant. The atmosphere is great, with fun furniture and murals on the wall. A great part of the campus of the University of the South, if you're driving by on 24 its definitely worth the stop. During family weekend, convocation, and homecoming it can get VERY busy.”

“It's a good place to eat. My husband and I eat here almost every time we come to the Mountains. Service is a little slow but the food is good and prices are reasonable. The food is very tasty.”

“My co-workers and I go there all the time for lunch and have always had a wonderful experience. The food is ALWAYS delicious, and quite often there are too many good things to choose between. (Thus we eat too much!) But we leave happily. The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu/buffet. The big plus. They have healthy choices as well as those that aren't so good for you! I highly recommend!”

• Once you finally get your food, it is usually good - not always prepared your way, but edible none the less.
• It may take up to fifteen minutes to buy a Whopper at lunch or dinner time.

“If the people working in the kitchen would work as fast as the people taking and handing out the orders, it would be a much better place. It is the only BK within twenty or so miles, so if it is a Whopper you desire, then you are just stuck with the mediocre service at the Springfield BK. Everyone in Springfield knows just how bad this BK can be at the usual mealtimes. As a matter of fact, new businesses in town are gauged on the Springfield BK scale by the locals. You are actually better off going here, if it is between mealtimes. Perhaps it is the pressure of serving food at breakfast, lunch and dinner that throws the employees off their game. They seem to switch management and personnel quite often. Quick fix - then back to the hit or miss style again. There are two or three regular employees, that have managed to stay employed through all of the personnel changes. It is a shame they haven't taken some of that OJT, and learned how to make this a great experience, and to see that the food actually is prepared the way it is ordered, and served quickly.”

“Okay, so the food at Fuji is good. I suggest going with the drive through though. If you eat inside you may be turned off by how rude the workers are. On one occasion I asked for a to go cup for my beverage so I could take it back to work. The server flat out told me sorry we don't have to go cups, you have a drive through so I know you have to go cups but whatever, I let it go. The next trip there I decided to ask the same thing just curious as to what the response would be. This time the server said I would have to ask the manager! Seriously? Wow that was the worst customer friendly response ever! If I come in to a restaurant to eat and tip a server I would like to think I could get a 15 cent cup to go. The last trip I will ever take there was with 4 other co-workers. We were eating when the server came over and took the bottle of mayo-sauce that they give you with each meal and said we had enough and were not allowed any more. OMG the owners are ridiculously stingy! I've been a server at several restaurants in the past while in college so I'm not picky but good lord this place is horrible! I know it's not a chain and they have to be a little bit more concerned on spending costs but sorry you lost a paying customer in the process.”

“Sunday July 26, 2009: we were staying at the Days Inn next to Graceland. They told us to call Marlowe's for the free pink Cadillac pick-up to their restaurant, 7:15 PM appointment. They stood us up and another couple (for 7 p.m.) waited 45 minutes. Finally went to restaurant in my own car and complained to manager; she couldn't care less and told me that is how it is when they are busy. Two Pink Cadillacs parked in lot at the time, Long line out the door. Dining area appeared dirty and cluttered with trash, decided to go elsewhere. Went to China Buffet next to Graceland where it was quiet, inexpensive and got hot steamy food right away. Returned that evening to Day's Inn and learned that Marlowe's called the Days Inn and blamed the problem on them! However, I had called the restaurant at 2 pm earlier that same day for my appointment and gave my name to a woman who advised me the time! At the hotel I learned that they favor the Heartbreak Hotel over the Days Inn when they get busy (and obviously mess up their bookings). Other guests said they waited 1-1/2 hours the night before. Forget Marlowe's! Never again!”

“They bring tons of food and it is all good but not excellent. Lots space to stretch out; not like a lot of the BBQ places where you are sitting elbow to elbow. You can hear each other talking, too. Staff very friendly but our waiter forgot the second beer, side salad and brought the appetizers with the meal. Very clean.”

• I love the Garlic cheese bread.
• They do not deliver pizza, dine in or carry out only.

“They have the freshest ingredients. I have seen them slice the pizza toppings themselves. The prices are very reasonable, a large pizza with all the toppings for like $13, pasta's for about $6 and some really good sandwiches about $5. I've been a customer since I was a kid, over 30 years now. It has a sports bar feel, serving beer and wings too, but is always kid friendly having a few arcade games and kid friendly menu too.”

“I live in eastern Canada and often travel to southern California. Memphis is a long way out of the way on this trip but, I often detour (flying or driving) through Memphis just to go to the Rum Boogie Cafe. The band is the best house band I have ever seen and, is worth taking a few extra days to see. The food and service are good. The band is awesome. Just writing this (CD playing) makes me want to pack up and get to Memphis.”

“The place is always dirty tables are always sticky or food on the food and lots of flies 5the bathrooms are away dirty they never get your order right. Heaven help you go through the drive threw by the time you get home you find. Your order is wrong, they all the red tape to go back and wait for ever to get your food by then you don't want it I have seen worker use the bathroom never wash their hands handle food bare handed too to remove a pickle from my order after I said no pickles! Shame on you McDonald hire some adults to work not just teenagers who don't care.”

• The smoky BBQ smell when you enter the restaurant makes you hungry immediately.
• Not one thing!

“The rub on these ribs is awesome! They are served with just a little BBQ sauce on them, because the rub is so good. Priced fairly and not expensively. The sides are great, especially the corn fritters. Service is wonderful. My iced tea glass was never empty! I highly recommend this restaurant. It is about 1 mile from Graceland, so go on over after your tour and eat some of the best BBQ in Memphis!”

• Shouldn't have kept a couple of the old hostesses that are not very friendly.

“Before this restaurant closed last year, it was filthy. You would stick to any surface you touched and it stank horribly. Not only of stale cigarette smoke, but of filth and bad bathrooms. Now the restaurant has no bad odors at all; the only thing you can smell is the fish cooking. You won't stick to any surfaces and the food is prepared when you order it and not before; It's fresh and hot and of great quality and taste. I'm enjoying going there at least every other weekend.”

“I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone! We were 25 people in total. The service was poor, we only had 1 waitress. It took an hour just to get our drinks served. Then over an additional hour to get our food served to us cold. I discussed my concerns with the manager that night, just to have it excused to us having 2 additional people attending the reception. The following day we were violently ill with massive stomach craps, projectile vomiting and diarrhea. People who did not get sick, either did not eat or were children eating chicken nuggets. After calling the restaurant and notifying them of our dissatisfaction, the manager that I spoke to accepted no responsibility and made no attempt at mending the situation. Again, as previously stated, I would never recommend this restaurant. Nor would I ever eat there again!”

“We were very disappointed in the service, the waiters did act like they were doing us a favor by offering us service, it was very slow and the waiter was very abrupt unfriendly. The food arrived on time, but it was just mediocre, nothing to write home about that is for sure. You can get much better at BB King's House of Blues on Beale Street or at Neely's BBQ. The restaurant looked unclean and the rest room was filthy.”

“This used to be my favorite restaurant in town. I have been told that management has changed in the past 3 years, which could be the reason for decline in quality of food. Used to be the best around, its still okay, but not like it used to be. Last time my girlfriend and I ate there, we were sat in the bar area and we noticed a lot of flies around our table. Although we had no complaints about the food, everything was as ordered, and the food was great! Noticed on the way out that the restaurant health score was not up to our standards. Probably won't return for awhile.”

“I have been going to Ellendale's since it was opened & was greatly disappointed when I took my wife there on for their Valentine special. They were unnecessarily crowded. We were seated late then the service went down from there. I was greatly disappointed.”

“Two people came by the table to get our drinks before our server showed up without a greeting. Just, "Have you decided?" She looked like she just didn't want us to be there. The food was average at best. I had asked to exchange the green beans for rice as a side. I asked our server. And, was told that they said the rice was a garnish. And, I had to pay for the side. That would have been fine if I had of been told. I don't mind to spend money on good food and service. But Harrison's has a long way to go.”

• Very disappointed drove out of our way to eat here and found it closed for the winter.

“The best seafood anywhere in the area, my wife and I eat here every time were in the area and love it, however, we had planned eating at cowboys while we were in pigeon forge this year on 1-17-09, we were very disappointed when we arrived their on our anniversary only to find cowboy's was closed for the season, I had looked it up on internet while planning our stay but nothing I found anywhere indicated being closed for the winter season.”

“If you are ever in, Clarksville TN and want to visit a local microbrewery I would suggest giving Black Horse pub a miss. There seem to be good reviews for this place, so I thought that it would be a worthwhile venture, that would be a mistake. Their beer has a low alcohol content and their pail ale is simply undrinkable (it was the first time I threw out beer). It may be the best place in town, but that is because it is the only place in town.”

“I'll begin with the one downside of this restaurant. Location! Unfortunately for the owners they are not located on a widely used area. Sure they're close to the Turnpike and too Illinois Ave., but they -aren't- on either. So for the casual traveler new to the area the likelihood of stumbling upon the place is unlikely. Also the size of the restaurant hurts it in different ways. With a larger location they could definitely improve the atmosphere you wouldn't feel so crowded or like you're in a run down building. If you can avoid letting these cons bother you you'll find it to be one of the best Mexican restaurants in Oak Ridge (if not the best!). The service is great and the food is amazing. The prices are unbelievable when you see just how much you can get for your dollar. Bang for your buck is here in big fashion and there is tons of variety with different combos, red sauce, queso, green sauce, etc. Everything you could want in a Mexican restaurant, quiet, fast service, great food, amazing prices, and it has that special feeling that makes it your place.”

“I've taken daughter's family to Cheddars several times since it opened. It is one of the better places to dine with child in area. They normally mess up at least one item on the order and we have to wait for it to be replaced. If busy servers are rude, otherwise they are friendly. Took husband with us for first time on Saturday and he has severe food poisoning from salad, maybe the chicken in it. Bread is super and we've had great food and not so great on the same items so it might depend upon the cook and how busy they are.”
