User Reviews for Pennsylvania Restaurants« Go back to Concord HotelsResearch User Reviews for Pennsylvania (1-20 of 1393)Yangming “First of all I am an associate pastor, and my wife is an business owner. We eat out pretty regularly from Morimoto downtown to tao in Manhattan, and I can confidently say this was one of if not the most unauthentic chinese resturaunts we ever experienced, and my wife is asian. The food is take out level at exorbitent prices and from other review i can say good service will be a toss up. The first red flag was the linguine with i think marinara sauce on the menu, and some assorted mexican dishes, i should have trusted my instincts and got up and left. Our waiter practically threw our plates at us, took our orders with an attitude, and basically showed us that serving us was very painful to him. My wife was extremely offended and upset, our children seemed uncomfortable, We have two at Shipely, and two at Episcopal and i would say they are pretty well adjusted children, and i hated seeing them put in that situation, feeling unwanted there. I being a minister usually try to down play people with bad attitudes, at which my wife wanted to kick me in my head for not supporting her, but she is right no establishment should have anybody working for them that exhibits this kind of behavior. My children also experienced cramps, and i felt a little queezy after the meal, maybe the food maybe not, but it was as unauthentic as is Bryn mawr is far from China. I recognize Bryn mawr as an upscale community with great shops and food, but this place is an black eye to the community. Suffer the ride and congestion and find a place in china town if you want to get the best for your money. ”

“Stopped for dinner while traveling. It's a little jewel! A Great atmosphere is created with all the artwork and artistic decor. Even the Ladies room is uniquely painted. If you like artsy (like Ithaca) you'll like this. The food was delicious, fresh, upscale, and a little different menu. They were very accommodating about the way the 3 of us ladies ordered - lots of appetizers and sharing an entree. I would have liked to linger longer. I will be visiting again.”

“My husband and I ate dinner there after viewing the Ellwood city fall festival, Saturday 9-12-09 and our food was excellent. We had the Pittsburgh club sandwich which has the coleslaw and fries on it as well as their chicken wings which were cooked perfectly! (crispy on the outside and tender on the inside) Keep up the great work!”

“We called in a reservation for six. They put us in the bar with our four children. The waiter was also the bartender. The seafood buffet was OK considering we have been to much larger with more selection. The food tasted OK again, however, the salmon was not good. Our main complaint was the cost $18.95 even for children over 5. There is no way our children ate $18.00 worth of food. It was a nice ride there, however, we will not return.”

“The delivery service was wonderful. Less than 30 minutes on a Saturday night. The food just wasn't up to par. The noodles were over cooked. The sauces did not taste very good. The prices are good but, the food is just not worth it.”

“China Gourmet has the best Chinese food in the Butler area. The servers are friendly and the food is a great value. Their buffet is excellent. I've been going there for many years and their food is always consistently good.”

“The food tastes pretty good. I've had better but it's not bad. However the price in comparison to the size of the sandwich is outrageous. Might as well go to Subway right up the road.”

“I love this restaurant! I have visited there for many years - the food is always good. I cannot describe how wonderful their home made pies are! On a scale of 1-10, they are about 12! I love to sit by the picture window and watch the wildlife while I enjoy my meal.”

“Good food & beer, bar seating was a big negative, and not a place to watch any sports events (13 & 15" TVs). The dining room looked different with large tables and seating together for different parties.”

“The Eastwood Inn was a wonderful experience. All of the meats were fresh cut to order. The butcher let us watch him cut the meat. The owner, Smoker, visited us at our table. The waitresses were exceptional and provided great service. The entire meal was terrific. We will definitely go there again!”

“I stopped at the Main Street Pub for dinner with some coworkers. The food was excellent. They had a seafood special on the night I was there that was a great meal for the price. Everyone at the table said how well their individual meals were cooked. One person had the steak that looked great. Another had Beer Battered Haddock filet which also looked good. I will definitely be going back to try other items on the menu.”

“The Alpine Inn is a hidden gem. This is the kind of place you go at the last minute on a week night when you want great food in a laid back atmosphere. The food is great, the prices are very reasonable and the portions are huge. Try the wings. The chef makes some great and interesting flavors; my husband's favorite right now is the Santa Fe hot wings (nice and creamy with a real kick). Some other favorites are the veal parmesan, the broiled seafood, and the steak for two. It's all good, and the new owners are really nice.”

“As a Bally native I know stories that came from The Bally Hotel, but since the new owners have taken it into a new direction, the hotel has blossomed into a culinary garden. I have never had an unpleasant experience at the Bally Hotel. With that my husband and I decided to have our reception there on July 18, 2009. Nearly one month later all our guests are still talking about the wonderful food, impeccable service and beautiful atmosphere. Some of my brothers and sisters; who know of the hotels past reputations, are still commenting on how beautiful it is on the inside, and what a wonderful job the family has done on rebuilding the class it rightfully deserves. I highly recommend a meal there any time of day. If you have an important event coming up make sure to book with them, they are great to deal with and can work with any budget.”

“What a disappointment! We went to special restaurant, Turkey dinner. Turkey was Ok. Not sure if it was roasted today or not. Mashed potatoes were instant and tasted watery. Dressing- was almost tasteless except for being too salty. Gravy definitely was not homemade-almost looked gelatinous. Green bean and cr. of mushroom casserole had a funny taste. I don't think it was a spice or anything-maybe the quality of ingredients used. Rolls were warm and good. Coconut cream pie was not what I hoped for. Cream filling didn't not have much taste. Certainly didn't have much coconut in it. Peanut butter choc cream pie was good. Salad bar wasn't much. Had head lettuce that looked a bit under the weather and the usual vegetables. - cukes, tomatoes, carrots, onions, cauliflower and broccoli. Homemade chicken noodle soup was ok. Prices were good but food wasn't.”

“Their road sign proudly displays an endorsement from KDKA TV. I hope the reporter and his crew ate somewhere else. We love diners and seek them out all over the country. Dean's was name I remembered from my past and we decided to stop. Seeing a full parking lot around noon was a good sign. As soon as we walked in I knew we should leave. We got a funny look from the elderly crew as being out of towners - but we are used to that. Scanning the room to get a good look at the food on the plates, I didn't see anything that looked appealing. It is almost worth a visit to see the last restaurant on earth where the servers wear white nurse uniforms. The server attentively stalked our table but when the food is boring and skimpy we had a tough time being enthusiastic. We held out hope that the vast pie menu would be a hit. No diner can produce that many different homemade pies in a day and Dean's doesn't either. Commercial pie shells filled with Canned Pie Glop covered in whipped topping is not pie. In short, Dean's has name recognition and location. If they only had food.”

“I have to say that the service my companion and I had was excellent. But everything else goes down from there. My friend's scallops and my twin lobster tail entrees were dried out and crunchy on the edges. My broccoli was overcooked, and the ginger bread in the bread basket had freezer burn. Very disappointed.”

“I was made to feel that I should be honored to be eating there. Food was sub par at best. Received 45 minutes after ordering (only 20-30 people there). 2 basic dinners, 4 Beers - 20% tip added auto $129.80.”

“We've been seeking a sort of local (under 45 minutes away) Chinese/Japanese restaurant for 3 years. We certainly found it. FABULOUS Sushi. Fresh, good assortment, nice good size pieces, reasonable price for Sushi. We loved it and cant wait to return to try the Chinese food.”

“I went to a wedding here. I think the place got a lot of money out of the bride and groom and gave them little food and horrible service in return. They do not have the staff to accommodate large functions and so the result is cooking less food at a snails pace. The guests spent the bulk of the night waiting for food instead of dancing. Half the wedding waiting nearly two hours in their chairs for the first course while the other half ate. Again, the unlucky half was not served dinner until 11:30-a half an hour past when the time the wedding was supposed to be over. No one was offered coffee because they did not have any coffee or tea service. No air conditioning. Guests left hot and tired and disappointed.”

“This restaurant is an old fashion treat since the waiters come to your car to take your order and then bring the food on a tray that attaches to your window. The specialty is a Bunny Burger and fries with Bunny Dust. I like to get my fries with extra Bunny Dust. YUM! They do a pretty good business on weekends so make sure to get there early for a parking spot. My mom just won some Bunny Dust at a local function and it definitely isn't just Season Salt.”

“I've been a customer for over 40 years. They are known for their cheese steaks, though other sandwiches are equally good. However, expansion has not served them well. Their home store is their Lancaster Avenue location. But their satellite stores are quite inconsistent. Recently, I've been frequenting their Morgantown Road location, where some sandwiches barely have any meat in them. Tonight's sandwiches weren't warm enough to melt the cheese.”

“Well, I was greeted by a talking panda bear. It was pleasant. He seated me quickly, the first chair my wife sat in collapsed immediately but he was quick to snatch up a new one from the basement. At first the wild geese in the restaurant were startling, but after a while they were actually quite romantic. The Panda then proceeded to take my order which was filled quickly. As he brought me the food he tripped on my wife and the Lo Mein splattered all over my new suit. The panda refused to bring me a new dish so I was forced to eat it right off my suit. Overall, the experience was quite unique. The bullet holes on the wall were a bit scary but I just got used to it. I would recommend Wah Shing restaurant to anyone who doesn't mind a little dirt in their food or a chaotic atmosphere.”

“We went there with another couple for Valentine's Day. Service was horrible. We had to go up the bar and get our own drinks it was so bad. Waitress was rude and took forever! Horrible! Food was average! I complained to the manager and I got a gift certificate. The four of us went back but food was average and service was poor again. Not a fan!”

“A must see! Great place that I will continue to visit. Food is awesome and the atmosphere is very med-evil that has the Castle theme going on. Has entertainment couple times a week like bands, karaoke, DJ. and if there not there I have fun just playing the jukebox. Its a touch tunes. The coolest one I've ever seen with every song under the sun!”

“We stopped in on our way home from Pittsburgh Airport, neither had eaten in 12 hours. We ordered country fried steak, whoever heard of putting breakfast gravy on that. Not to mention we ordered mashed potatoes and they put the same breakfast gravy on that too. It was awful. The sweet potatoes tasted like they had Elmers glue in them. And so did the gravy. Everything tasted like bacon. The steak was like a rock way overdone. What a mess, I did eat the steak because I was so hungry but will not ever eat in another Cracker Barrel. Love the store part.”

“Terrible food. Ordered appetizers only and got half within 15 minutes. Waited another 30 minutes for a simple chicken quesadilla. It still wasn't out when the less than professional waiter came to my table and asked if we still wanted it?! Are you kidding me? Did I not order it? It was finally brought to out table as we heard the gate calling for out flight to begin boarding. I went to the manager and explained the situation and the manager looked at me and said ok! We left the food on the table, paid the tab and walked out. I will never spend another dime. Save your money and grab a snickers bar until you can find something else to eat.”

“We arrived at the restaurant at 7:00 and needed to finish eating in time for the play which started at 8:00. We informed the hostess and then our waitress of this. They told us it would be a rush to manage that, but they would make the effort. We helped them by not ordering appetizers or salads. We made the play with 15 minutes to spare. The food was great and the service was outstanding. We ate there on a cool July evening (upper 70's) and had no problem with being hot. It is expensive, but is definitely not diner food. We had salmon, cobia, and a petite filet. I loved the plantain with my cobia, the steak was tender & cooked as ordered, and my husband said the salmon was cooked the way he wanted. The only negative was the shoestring potatoes with the steak. They were delicious but hard to eat.”

“It was the worst meal we've eaten in years. The seafood plate was mush served with over cooked shrimp in a tasteless white sauce, and my friends ravioli was nothing much to eat. We each sent the food back to the kitchen after only several bites. Little place down the road serves better food, and at reasonable prices, guess being smaller they need to care more about quality. We'll never go back to River's Edge. Too many other good places to eat in nearby towns, so why waste time and money on slop! Great food. Stone House comes to mind, only 20 minutes away, absolutely wonderful!”

“This place is great! Every time we visit the Pocono's we have to stop here. The food is excellent and the service is very fast, the people who run the place are very friendly. The restaurant has a good atmosphere, although it can get a bit crowded and noisy at times. You get a lot of food for a reasonable price. Great place to eat if you are in the area.”

“Nice decor and the menu is appealing, but that is about it. The wait staff is slow and surly, and half of the things listed on the menu are not actually available. We were told that the feature menu on the table was only available in the winter. And we were yelled at when ordering waffles, as if we knew that the waffle machine wasn't working. Fresh fruit, they are out right now, despite it being on the menu. Ditto for tea. Ditto for onion rings. Ditto for half of the sandwiches. And when the waitress brought our drinks, she was angry and short with us. Never again.”

“My family visited the restaurant on fathers day. Our entire experience from the greeting we received at the door by the hostess till the check was paid was delightful. You get the feeling of family when you enter. The hostess was very friendly and attentive. The wait staff was professional and appeared to make our visit their top priority. I would recommend this restaurant”

“I felt like I was at a cafeteria. I had to keep getting up to go get my drinks at the bar, get my menu, get everything and there were only two people sitting at the bar! Actually when I got a refill on my drink the customer passed it to me. Then when we got our meal she tried to give us everything at one time on a 2 foot by 2 foot table that could not possible accommodate salads, dinner plates and drinks. They took our food back to the kitchen to keep warm until we finished our salads. When the food came out it was just warm. Told the manager and got a whopping $1.00 off the ticket. Wow folks! And there website says they will make it right or its free.”

“Although the food is very good, the service is awful. The owners wife plays hostess, server, and bus girl. She is overwhelmed and in a barely occupied restaurant it was torture getting anything from her. No one seemed satisfied the night we there. One couple asked for bread and after 20 minutes they got two little rolls. I happen to hear them request more and hostess/server etc informed them that it will be a long time because the chef only makes two rolls at a time. Ridiculous. We enjoyed our meals but service is really important and this was a huge flaw. Too many other places to go where they use better customer service.”
