“Never had a bad meal and have taken lots of family and friends. There is something for everyone and always several specials of the day.”

“Very overpriced until a deli opened up across the street so they were forced to lower their prices. Place is dirty and small, employees are rude and food is below par. Coffee is pretty good though I will give them that. All and all I would not recommend going to this establishment.”

“Absolutely fabulous food with nice presentation, served by friendly staff. View of the river is beautiful, and the back room has a lovely setting for enjoying your meal. The Wed-music and special menu nights are a real treat, excellent music to accompany your excellent meal! The Cellar is my favorite place to dine in the area, rarely do you get such fabulous food in such a beautiful atmosphere for such a reasonable price! I give it top scores all around!”

“Wary of leaving Manhattan for a local Long Island Italian restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised. The service was attentive and the food cooked as ordered. While the decor may be a bit staid, it is an excellent place to meet friends for a dinner in a non-rushed atmosphere. They try to please and you will not leave hungry.”

“Good food, good service, disappointed that they did not use fresh mushrooms on the veal Marsala. but it tasted delicious. If they have the Tilapia (st. Peters fish) get it, it was awesome.”

“My husband, two kids and mother recently took a trip to Watertown to do some back to school shopping. One of the main reasons we go to town is to have our meals at the local Applebee's which has always had the best steak and wonderful service. We were seated by a server who informed us that our server was on a dinner break and she would take our drink and meal order and would be with us shortly. We received our beverages and appies (from a runner) and waited about 25 minutes to receive our meal (also by a runner). Four of us had ordered steak and all of the plate bottoms were full of water, I assume from the vegetables. Not very appetizing. We were in need of drink refills, when the server finally stopped by the table. He didn't ask if we needed anything but raised his eyebrows as if to so Well? We ordered more drinks and he returned with a sour face an attitude that said he was doing us a favor. He didn't stop by again and we had to ask someone else for the last drink refill. We decided to give it a go the next night and the service was even worse. I asked the bartender if there was a comment card we could fill out and she said that we could speak to the manager. I didn't really want to do that, but he wandered over and asked if there was a problem and I explained the situation. He looked unconcerned and said that sometimes that happens. We have always enjoyed our visits to this Applebee's but think that it has gone downhill.”

“The ownership has recently changed at this little local spot and all I can say is "Thank God." The food is ten times better as is the service and the prices are extremely reasonable. It seems as the new owners have dedicated themselves to revamping and drastically improving the menu. Also check out the interesting beers they have on tap.”

“Being that I am from Brazil I understand the culture difference of Brasilia, North American. The way the waiters and owner talk, not accent, but use of words is sometimes a direct translation from Portuguese, which does not always work, and may be lost in translation and seem rude to an American. While the Brazilian person might think she is being courteous, she/he might be perceived as rude. My experience was fine, I really liked the coffee and desserts.”

“This restaurant has the worst service, worst food but best location if you're using the train. Located directly across from the train station makes it a hot spot for coffee and breakfast early in the morning. The staff is rude and don't even try to stop in for snacks and coffee at dinnertime because they'll tell you that you're "taking a table" when no one is waiting at all. I stopped going there after getting a piece of pie with a huge hair baked into the center. Never will go there again.”

“I was lured into this restaurant by the warm, soft ambiance of the dining room. Little did I know this would turn out to be the worst dining experience that I've ever experienced in my life. We were seated far back in the outdoor seating, practically in the parking lot. With a party of 3, it took over an hour and a half from the time we were seated to the time that our entrees arrived. Meanwhile, several tables around us, including a table of seven who had arrived after us, and had a diabetic woman who threw a tantrum over the slow service, were served. The waiter was rude, unapologetic and shrugged off three requests for extra bread (we were given only 3 slices initially), as well as two inquiries about our appetizer by stating that he had 240 other customers to serve. The manager was reluctant to get involved and comped our original drinks and appetizer only after we pitched a fit. By that time I had a screaming headache and too angry to eat. What little I tasted of the Pasta was badly overcooked.”

“The only reason me & my husband went was because we had gift certificates to use. The first time we went, the service was as terrible as was the food. I don't know what kind of spices they use. Maybe they just make the recipe up as they go to cook which isn't bad if it tastes good at the end but it doesn't. The second time we went was just a few days ago the service was wonderful but the food was no better than the first time. My husband ordered mussels with fries thinking a side order of fries, but they put them on top of the mussels. Strange!”

“The pizzas of the place are in a class of their own. If you travel to Watkins Glen, visit Jerlando's Pizza. Either the one in Watkins Glen (you may encounter a long wait to be seated) or drive two miles and munch happily in Montour Falls at the Jerlando's there (which is said to have even better).”

“Very small portions, overpriced. Potato chips out of a bag, they give some fancy name, and then they want to charge for a coffee refill!”

“Expensive and not good at all. Ordered spaghetti, was $10.00 for a plate without meat, $1.25 per meatball if you want them. Lasagna had an odd taste to it and was tiny, $12.00. Meals came with two small bowls of lettuce with one black olive in it. Also a small loaf of bread that was the only enjoyable item of this meal.”

“It was busy as it was Saturday evening (7 pm). We had to wait just inside the door and two other groups were ahead of us. About 15 minutes it was our turn. The lady skipped right over us and was going to seat what appeared to be some friends of her that were behind us and others. We spoke up as we had put our name in for seating. She apologized and sat us at an outside table which was fine. There were three of us (me, my wife, and our five year old grandson). The server was friendly and courteous (at first). When asked about a kids menu, he said they were out, but told us what was on it. We ordered the boy a hamburger meal but everything at the end was charged separately for a total of about $8. Way too much. After finding out it would be over an hour's wait for a pizza, we ordered something else. My wife got a chicken finger sub that was way overcooked. I ordered a Clam Strip dinner which came with French fries and Cole Slaw. The fries (which are supposed to be home made) were soggy with oil and limp. The Clam Strips were so undercooked that the batter was soaked with oil and falling off. There was so much oil saturated into the batter that I could ball up the batter on my plate. The Cole Slaw was tasteless. The grandson's hamburger was undercooked and still had almost raw meat in it, and the meal was cold. It must have sat around for a while. We decided not to complain to the server and ate what we could of the meal. While waiting for the check (almost 20 minutes) after we finished, the server came walking by and I had to ask for the check. While waiting for the check, a lady sitting at the outside bar was using language fitting for a steel mill. Her mouth should have been parked at a toilet instead of at the bar. Slinging out abusive words bombed like the fine trooper she was. Could hear her clearly and we were sitting at good 40 feet away. If you go there, don't sit outside near the bar, because I think she is a regular. We overheard our server and another worker verbally fighting each other.”

“What a disappointment! Although the view is spectacular, the service and food were horrible! Do not waste your time or $. We waited at the bar for our table which was fine, but we also got a view of the goings on in the kitchen. We watched as someone who might have worked there or maybe was just the local drunk, would visit the kitchen to pick food off customers plates and eat it! The staff was so overworked and stressed. We finally got a table and waited an hour just for our appetizers. Steamers, which were so dried out they were cracked! but, being diligent and hoping for the best we proceeded to wait another 45 minutes for our entrees! We finally had enough, and paid for our appetizers and got out of there! Tables all around us were complaining as well. And, the local drunk/employee was meandering thru and making a nuisance of himself. Too bad, this was the perfect setting for a great restaurant with much better management.”

“Ate there once, boring. Ate there last month, boring, ate there last year, boring. The place is a boring diner, that is in the beginning of town. Luckily, other eateries are in the town so you don't need to eat here. best of all, Liberty is a short drive and the food selection and amount of places to eat are plentiful. Don't waste your time here. The bar drinks are watered down and taste funny.”

“Delicious food. My mom found the chicken wings completely addicting! The building is much bigger inside than it looked from the outside! The booths are very big, the food is delicious, the decorations are VERY cool such as working phone booths, old punch-clocks and a turn-of-the-century phone. You can eat on the roof, on the second floor overlooking the first floor (if you can take the stairs), or sit on the ground floor where we did. I would have expected the bathrooms to keep the feel of your typical bar and grill but stepping into the women's bathroom, there was a classic feel and high level of elegance that Id compare to the powder rooms in the theaters where you might see Rent or something. Beautiful and spotless. The staff was friendly. My only complaint is the food is pricey (but their food holds up to such prices) and they ran out of the drink, my mother had wanted to order. But besides that, a terrific place and a surprising little gem well hidden in the tiny city of Batavia.”

“Good food but very expensive! They automatically added a party of 6, charged, even though the sixth one was a newborn infant. Their food is okay, but nothing you would write about anything. We so need some decent restaurants in this town!”

“Although this restaurant may look somewhat run-down outside, do not be fooled! The inside is small but has a very nice 50's decor and you really get a feel of the 50's. The one and only waitress working while I was there was very friendly and provided great service. Our food came within a perfect amount of time, and it was absolutely delicious. This restaurant is perfect for people who want exactly what they order; the portions are not colossal or minuscule, they are perfect. Prices are reasonable. The 50's Diner will not disappoint you!”

“I couldn't wait to show my son and his family this beautiful lake when we arrived (7 of us). We were seated but the BEES were so bad! It took about one hour to get the terrible food. I was so disappointed. I probably will never go back!”

“Worst meal I have ever had and the prices are crazy. Trying to turn a pig's ear into a silk purse perfectly describes this place. Waitress was rude, brought the wrong food to our table 3 times and then got upset when we told her to forget the meals we would pay for our drinks and be done with it. Later found out from another waitress that this person is the one in charge. Will never go back not even if the meal is free.”

“This place has good food but it is expensive. However, this is not the worst part about A&J's. The worst thing is the service. It takes over 45 minutes on average for simple orders and the place is never busy enough to make the wait make sense. Four or five other people are just standing around while two or three employees are working. Inexcusable.”

“I have not been to the restaurant, but I attended a wedding where the food was prepared by the restaurant. The food was the best wedding meal ever. The Balsalmic marinated steak was wonderful and the Turkey extremely moist and flavorful. Could not say anything bad about anything.”

“My husband and I first went to the Ship Lantern Inn in 1967 when we were first married. Although we eventually moved away from the mid-Hudson Valley, we still try to come back to this restaurant on a periodic basis. We were last there on Friday, August 21st for our 42nd anniversary. It was as stupendous as we remembered it. The mixed drinks were made very well. My appetizer, which was a vegetable strudel had dough, that was very flaky. Our entries were well cooked and served in a manner that is hard to find these days. We are living in Binghamton, NY, and there is no place like this around here. We will go back to the Ship Lantern Inn as often as possible. Next time we plan on bringing our grown children.”

“Quite possibly the worst service I've experienced. The girl behind the counter was more concerned about talking to friends who were not ordering and testing that she was about her job in customer service. Her method of delivering the food to the table comprised of literally dropping the food and the utensils on the table in front of everyone. I would just order to go. The service there isn't worth the time or your patience.”

“The pizza was decent. This is the only positive comment I can think of. I have never reviewed a restaurant, but our experience at this place was especially bad. 1. The pizza didn't fit on the small little plates we received. We requested bigger plates and the waitress refused to give us bigger plates, even though the food at the table right next to us was served on bigger plates. 2. They don't take credit cards. We were informed of this well after we received the bill. We were rudely told to drive to the convenient store 3 blocks away. 3. The place had a foul stench to it. 4. The cook (and owner) of this place made derogatory comments about us in Italian right in front of us. (He must have assumed that we couldn't understand.)”

“Go there and feel the sticky bar counter, complain about it and don't leave a tip. But remember to write - no tip - on the provided area of your receipt because they will put one for you and when you complain about that, the manager will say you lied and tell you not to come back, not very friendly.”

“Classic boring food. The Hamburger buns are very dry. The French fries are small portioned. Even the breakfast menu comes up short, small eggs, small toast and small French fry portion. Save your money and go to the Liberty Diner. Its 3 miles away.”

“La Focaccia is Al Pacinos Italian Restaurant destination in West Village. The Restaurant La Focaccia location at a prime people watching corner, the roar of the wood burning brick oven open flame, its modest prices for the quality and amount of food on the plate, this is an excellent value. Delicious Italian food with a wonderful atmosphere. I ate a flavorful grilled Italian sausage from the brick oven not overcooked just right. These well seasoned and juicy, large Salsiccie were split down the middle and spread wide across a shallow puddle of tomato sauce and several Lego sized blocks of polenta. Northern Italian menu highlighted by substantial portions of pasta and oven fired meats and fish. A mixed grill for two, with baby lamb chops Italian sweet sausages and a daily fish. Magnificent! My best place to eat and drink. We have brought friends there and they have also loved it. The best part of the experience, however, goes back to those windows, with their advantageous people watching and the delicious satisfaction of finally being on the inside looking out. La Focaccia is really the best Italian Restaurant destination. Highly recommended!”

“I was in Northport visiting family who moved here and we decided to spend a day at Crab Meadow Beach. After the day we figured the best thing to do was to have an early dinner at the restaurant located right at the beach. I was impressed with the convenience, unfortunately that is where my good impressions of La Casa Cafe stop. Your options are to either sit outside at a crumby plastic table covered in a dollar store table cloth or to be put inside where it looked nicer. We chose inside because at least the staff dresses professionally inside and not like the hussies they had in pink shirts serving pizza outside. Once we were inside, we realized how little space we had as they basically shoehorned us into a small table in the corner of a tinted window nightmare. For a restaurant at the beach, they sure do their best to obscure the view as best they can. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. To be honest I feel like the overall atmosphere of the restaurant and frequency of large cheap hair-plugged men roaming the dining area ruined any chances I had of actually enjoying my meal. I was so excited to leave the dank nightmare of a restaurant and get back outside to continue what had been a wonderful day at the beach with my family.”

“I have traveled through and been to the diner twice with family from the area. Both times I had deeply unsatisfactory meals and felt that the service, in particular, was very brash, and even a bit rude. The most recent visit, I had a soup that was lukewarm, at best, and my hamburger was undercooked. I asked to send the burger back and was treated as if I had just committed a major crime. A short man who identified himself as the owner came out of the kitchen and told me that's how I ordered it and there was nothing that he could do. I was taken aback and he continued to talk down to me as I argued about my meal. I finally left without payment and without a meal, and told them I was going to write a letter of complaint to the Better Business Bureau and they told me to do my best, as it wouldn't amount much. I really couldn't believe what I was hearing and I would strongly advise against anyone attending that establishment.”

“This place is ridiculous. Food is run of the mill seafood, management are snobs and the service is poor. I will never go back. Furthermore, I don't see this place lasting and have no clue how it has stayed open for so long. 130+ tip, check for my girlfriend and I, and we left hungry. No prices on anything, we had striped bass, scallops, split a salad for our appetizer, and each had a glass of wine, and shared a dessert. I spent over 150 bucks, and left unsatisfied.”

“This was my second visit to Da Vinci Pizza, after being persuaded by fellow co-workers to give it another chance. They were wrong. I ordered 2 Chicken Parmigiana hero's, one for me one for my boss. I wound up tossing the dried out over-cooked chicken and eating the bread and cheese, which had the saltiest sauce I've ever tasted. It's sad they use the name of a genius for such inane food.”

“I sent the following complaint to the county Health Depart On Sunday evening of August 2nd, I had dinner at the Retreat restaurant in Liverpool with some friends and family, including my 78 year old mother who has emphysema. We ate in the outside dining area. During the course of the dinner, the three tables surrounding us had people smoking. In fact, one table had two men smoking cigars. The smoke was not only annoying, but affected my mother's breathing because of her emphysema. I called the manager over to complain and point out that they are in violation of state regulations and he disagreed. He said that as long as the smokers do not occupy more than 25% of the area, its allowed. I went online this morning to recheck the regulations and he is wrong. They are required to have a designated smoking area (which they do not) at least 3 feet away from the non-smoking area and the smoking area is clearly designated by signage (which it is not). I am requesting that your office contact the Retreat requiring their compliance with state regulations on smoking.”

“Maitre de sloppily clad. Steak order wrong for all four diners. Instead of apologizing for the error, maitre de thought the steaks were fine in his opinion. Never offered a drink or any kind of condolence for the fact we would have to wait for another steak. Salads which should be summer peak fresh were pale and stale. Shrimp bisque was starchy and bland. French fries and baked potato were almost as good as McDonald's or Wendy's. The view of the water was fine had the windows been washed.”

“Talia has been one of the few restaurants I frequent often. I like the place, the relaxed atmosphere, and the friendly staff. I even got to know the owner who is there often and is always willing to chat. I like the fact that it is a OU certified place in walking distance. I have ordered both deliveries and stayed in the outdoor part and the restaurant, and I still enjoy their rib-eye steak and their burgers. Not to say this place has some of the best French fries I have ever tried.”

“They never have hot water to wash your hands and most of the time no paper towels or toilet paper. After repeated attempts to wash my filthy hands since everything is dirty in town and this being the only place in town to eat, I found the hot water valve turned off under the basin sink. Rarely have anything to wash your hands with other then a dirty bar of soap left out on the basin sink. There only interest is your money and the food is boring and best eaten when you haven't eaten in 2 days. I order everything on bread since the burger buns are so dry they could cut your lip. Don't drink the water.”

“The meals are really quite boring and everything in the veggie department comes from a can or box. The eggs in the morning are the small or medium size. They come with a portions of fried frozen potatoes. They have a bar there, but only the locals patronize the place and drink beer from the bottle only. Everything else in the alcohol department is inferior tasting. With all the places to dine in Liberty a short 8 miles away, exit 100, route 52 and quality ice cream at Fiddlers on route 17, save your money and patience and go elsewhere.”
