• Beer selection was good.
• They took off the best items from the old menu: seafood nachos, buffalo shrimp, etc.

“This is one of those great Throw-back places you would not stop in if you didn't have someone tell you how great it is. Like eating at your Mama's table. But only if Mama was a super cook! Try the scrapple and eggs. Plain, simple fare cooked perfectly and served with a smile.”

“I had a good old fashioned restaurant style meal. I dreamed of visiting Melvin's for the last 5 or so years, tonight was a dream come true. It's a shame they have torn down so many of OC's original restaurants. I enjoyed the nostalgic feel of Melvin's. By the way, I didn't see any flies on the window sills or in my green beans. I plan to visit next time I'm in town and this time bring my dear hubby.”

“We have eaten here on several occasions with no regrets on any entrees ordered! I strongly recommend their Sunday dinner deal which includes a three course meal at a discounted rate! We went their on a Saturday evening though and had live music with our meal.”

• We had a great waitress.
• They charged soda for each glass.

“The food still has a way to go. When I asked for 2 items they were unavailable. Also it is the only restaurant in the area that does not give refills on sodas. It is nice to have the Cheshire back but they need to make changes. One good thing it has great docking if you come by boat.”

“I used to frequent this place, but the draft beer is so warm that I couldn't take it anymore. After many complaints, I give up. Every other place in Bellaire has draft beer at least 10degree colder. Whoever is in charge needs to get canned.”

“I loved their pizza, Parmesan cheese, onion rings and fried chicken wings with a side of BBQ sauce. Do me a favor if you think I'm lying. next time you are there open the Parmesan cheese lid and smell it. 90% of the time it smells moldy and you can sometimes see the mold. There is a better place and its not too far down the road from The Corner Pub. Half priced pizza on Mondays and Tuesdays (with a drink purchase for all guests), Half priced burgers on Wednesdays. A little further drive, not being able to get 1/2 price pizza on Thursdays, drinking bad wine, not having to argue with an owner on a weekly basis is worth my time and health.”

“Was not expecting much because the place looks like a run down shack, were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. Cheese steak was excellent. My wife actually asked owner for recipe of the cajun shrimp chicken sub. She loved it. Good luck finding the place but if you do you're in for a treat.”

“The beers were cold and tasty and every bite of the pizza was eaten and enjoyed. While there are definitely more TV's and other accessories than when I was a kid, the place is still happily recognizable as the original corner pub that I remember. I will return there every chance I get when business or pleasure takes me back to Maryland.”

• Noisy when crowded, closes early at 8:00 pm.

“Kahler's has the best steamed crabs consistently of anywhere else we have tried. It is very informal and they let you bring your own beer which they will ice down in a cooler for you. We love the informality and atmosphere for a fun night eating crabs with friends. They also have other food on the menu if someone doesn't like crabs, soups, burgers, platters, etc. I recommend it for any crab lovers out there!”

“This was the worst experience I've ever experienced at a restaurant. The pasta floated in sauce, the meat was like rubber and the service was indifferent. The waitress could have cared less that we didn't care for our food. There were plenty of other fine dining Italian restaurants in the area.”

“We spent a few days in Maryland to play golf. We had eaten at the Captains Galley before and thought we would try it again. I will get to the point. We were all very disappointed, with our entire experience. First, for a seafood restaurant, the menu is very limited in its choices of fish. Come on folks you are right on the Atlantic ocean and should have several choices on your menu daily. No sword fish,cod, snapper,tuna etc. We were four in our group two ordered Crab cakes, (one the size of a tennis ball) at $17.00 one ordered Salmon and the other stuffed shrimp, Every dish was bland/had no taste and was not served hot! We went with the salad bar as a side dish, also a big disappointment. The salad was wilted and the fixings were limited. Salad is the cheapest thing you can provide. This was way to much for what we received in the way of a meal, nor did we enjoy it. Also we had to wait almost half an hour for our meal and the restaurant was only half full. The Captains Galley II is off our list, we will not return. Please pass this on to the restaurants owners, if they don't do something about changing the chef, the menu and the service, this ship will sink.”

“Always like Houston's restaurant in Rockville, MD. Last visit was horrible from start to finish one Sunday evening. We went from dirty glasses to two separate dirty plates (one plate so slippery that one would think that they were chinking on the dish soap). This followed by the wilted brow lettuce Caesar Salad that my wife had to send back and refused to get another. We interpreted this as a cut in corners on quality due to the bad economy or that they simply didn't want us to dine there anymore. Needless to say, we don't dine there anymore. We now frequent Clyde's and the Daily Grill in its place. No problem whatsoever since the change.”

“This unassuming restaurant can be hard to find - near the Calvert Maritime Museum its actually hidden behind the Comfort Inn on a marina. An excellent, recommended restaurant.”

“I ate the shrimp kabobs (most expensive item on the menu), got violently sick immediately after eating, and barely made it home. Tried to explain to the owner in case he had something old in the kitchen. His coworkers run me out of the restaurant. I have never been treated so disrespectfully in my life. I previously ate the same menu item with no problems.”

“This restaurant was a tiny gem in the midst of an even tinier town. We mistakenly found it after attempting to go to another place which was packed and ridiculously expensive for its fare. The menu was extensive and the server always seem to be friendly and more than helpful. There was a very casual section in the front and an area in the back with tablecloths and dimmed lighting. The food was amazing, especially for the price and the servers were so pleasant. We love it and you will also.”

“I was seated to find that someone had left their gum on my seat and it got all over both legs of my black silk pants. When notifying the manager, he made no apologies, and acted like it was a bother, and gave me some ice chips and a sharp knife to scrape it off of my pants! It was so disgusting. He didn't offer any assistance, not even a free drink, or cry cleaning voucher, etc. Nothing. We had a party of 8 - big mistake, none of us will go back.”

“I have been to many Italian Restaurants and always come back to The Olive Tree. It is a very good value and the salad and bread sticks are great. It is three restaurants in one, great for families, couples and business luncheons. It is also like the corner bar where everyone knows your name or at least they act like you are a family friend.”

“The restaurant has an incredible location overlooking the Kent Narrows and is quite appealing. However, the food is mediocre and expensive. I ordered the fried oysters. It's hard for fried oysters not to be delicious, but somehow they were tasteless. However, the view is so beautiful it's easy to overlook the food. The owners can't produce food that matches the scenery. I am going back one more time just to give the place a second chance.”
