“This place was terrible, The fried rice tasted burned and had big clumps of plain rice mixed in with it, the egg roll was burned on both ends and when we asked for another one we were told they were all the same.”

“August 26, 2009 first and only visit, disgusting is the word. The food was okay but the bar was dirty. When you make the mistake of trying to use the men's room you will never ever finish your meal. The overwhelming stench coupled with the sticky floor says it all. Try to wash your hands and you find there is no running hot water. When you mention the condition to the staff they laugh and say not my job and there is nothing I can do about it. They insisted there was no manager on duty and then tried to blame the customers for the filth. If they let an area of the restaurant the public sees gets this disgusting, what is going on behind the closed doors of the Kitchen? If you are reading this, do yourself a favor and stay away!”

“I eat at Bootleggers usually on Thursday for dinner, because the Farmer's Market is in Waterville Maine and the Chef at Bootleggers shops the market for FRESH items for cooking that night. Last Thursday I had stuffed pork chops with raisins and apples, and his own touch on herbs and his own original dish; his new and creative twice cooked potatoes was seasoned just right and the salad greens were so fresh and tasty. I have never had a bad meal as of yet. The restaurant is a tavern/pub atmosphere with large televisions playing different sport events in every corner, a pool table ready to be used and darts. On a warm evening there is a roof restaurant if you enjoy eating outside. A friendly family like place with something for young and old. I am going back again tomorrow night because I know the meal will be the best in Waterville, cooked by the best chef in Waterville. I rate this restaurant AAA*.”

“I had not bee to Warrens in many years, the salad bar was disgusting - lettuce brown not clean and maintained dishes no kept filled. The food was horrible I had baked Haddick with crab stuffing, if a crab was ever near the haddock it must have ran off fast, bit disappointment - will never go back.”

“We get to spend a lot of time in the Booth bay region each summer. And we spend many a time at the Lobster Dock when we don't want to fuss in our own kitchen. It has the initial appearance of a lobster shack but once you look at the menu and wine and staff the lobster shack mode disappears. We love the crab cakes and I guess Bobby Flay did too as they have a photo of him on their sign. Everything we try never disappoints, even their steak is amazing when your all fished out. But our favorite is obviously the Lobster!”

“Unfortunately, the pizza is pretty good yet the hassle and run around one gets during the ordering/paying is unacceptable. I have never received such repeated poor customer service. One would believe in giving a place another shot after one bad experience - lets just say I gave them four and it got worse and worse.”

“We live in Gorham. There are two pizza restaurants in town. One is a franchise and the other is the local Gorham House of Pizza. This is our favorite. The pizza menu offers extensive choices including a delicious Greek style pizza; they also have very good fresh salads and great sandwiches. The dining room could use some upgrading and they need to wipe off the tables more regularly, but there are plenty of booths, good food, draft beer and friendly service.”

“When they first opened we loved the food and went every week, now we go every couple of months or more hoping the food will change, it has gone from excellent to horrible, cold, meat you can hardly chew, if you want a knife you have to ask for it which puzzles me they serve meats that have to be cut in order to eat. The waitresses run around chit chatting in their native lounge which, in my book, is rude, you are in the USA speak in English And I find it very unpleasant sitting there eating your meal and a waitress is sweeping the floor right by you while you are trying to eat.”

“Probably the worst dining experience of my life. My wife and I stopped here on a summer afternoon for lunch a couple years ago. No one greeted us; there was not a human being in sight. It looked like they were renovating because one section was under construction and we could hear some sawing, hammering, etc. We wandered toward the noise and finally found a woman who had a cast on her leg and was hobbling. She said she was the only one there that day and was in charge of everything: greeting and seating, waiting on customers, preparing the food, and tending the bar. All this, despite the fact that she seemed to be in a lot of pain was having trouble getting around. We sat and ordered some basic Mexican fare. Fortunately there were no other customers there at the time; otherwise I'm sure we would have had to wait longer than we did for hop-along to serve our food. As two doors were open there were many flies inside the restaurant which buzzed around our table while we ate and even landed in our plates. The grating sounds of the renovations continued. Sawdust flew thought the air. Our burritos were served on paper plates and we were given plastic utensils. We asked for hot sauce and were given packets of hot sauce. We didn't pay much for the meal so I suppose that is a plus. But the service was atrocious, the atmosphere was disgusting and offensive, and the food was definitively sub-standard. I don't know what the story was with the poor woman with the broken leg, either. Didn't this establishment have other employees that could have helped the poor woman out? Running an entire restaurant and bar by oneself would be a tremendous task for a healthy person, but for someone hobbling around in a cast. We could hardly believe what we were seeing.”

“Great take-out Chinese food. The only Chinese I'll eat in the Brewer area now. I also like the fact that it is a family business. On Friday nights they are usually pretty busy so allow a little extra time for the order to be ready. It will be worth it.”

“Do not order a burger. Worst I have had at any restaurant. Pre-cooked weight is supposed to be 1/4 pound but when delivered to table the burger was totally dried up and had no taste. What a disappointment! Best to avoid eating here if at all possible.”

“I believe that the waitress double dipped on her tip. My husband could not be convinced by me to ask for an itemized listing of our order. It is my own fault that I did not ask for one myself. Our total was more than dollar amount of our choices listed in the menu. I believe that the waitress put her own tip on the total and brought that receipt to us to be signed.”

“Enjoyed the Bourse butter spread and crackers. The small fluffy biscuits were great and the wait staff brought seconds. The fresh baked from raw turkey breast melted in your mouth. Especially good was the fresh baked haddock with lemon buttered crumbs. We have traveled every where and never had better fried oysters. The homemade pies and blueberry gingerbread were a special treat.”

“This restaurant is terrible! I ordered 3 cheese enchiladas. You would think that the enchiladas would be large and filled, right? Not so! They were the size of 3 very small tacos and there was only a tiny, tiny amount of cheese in each one. It was microwaved and rubbery. Honestly, I tasted no cheese and only the rubbery texture of 3 very small tacos. That is not how you make enchiladas! On the side, I had some very overcooked, mushy rice (that, too, had zero flavor), and some refried beans that looked like someone literally stomped on them with their shoes. They had little flavor and I have to say, store bought refried beans from the grocery store, in a can, taste better! I am not kidding! The margarita I had was also premixed and not fresh. The waitress went in the back after taking my drink order and came out only seconds later, which obviously means a premix (you know, you can buy those yourself - you just dump it into a glass). Um, I can have that at home! Actually, I don't. I now make my own Mexican dishes at home, and they are fresh and delicious! After leaving Buena Appetite, I was annoyed and felt so hungry. The portions were extremely small. I actually had to go home and make dinner - I was that hungry! It was as though I hadn't eaten (and I'm a medium sized woman). My husband had a burrito and, while it was a little better than my meal, it tasted closer to a Big Mac than it did Mexican. I honestly don't think the owners of the restaurants have a clue as to what Mexican is. At least the name is accurate. Buena Appetite - you will leave with an appetite. Please don't waste your money here. Find a different restaurant or just make good Mexican at home. I've eaten at many different Mexican restaurants (even one close to Mexico), and this is, by far, one of the worst!”

“I had lunch at Fuji today - a basic sushi and sashimi meal. I paid the bill and left to shop, and in about 10 minutes began to cramp badly and need to visit a rest room, symptoms anyone who eats raw fish would recognize at once. recognize as food poisoning. Fuji was around the corner, so I went back in, heading down the stairs to the rest rooms. A cook was coming in at the time, and when he saw me going down he informed me that the restrooms were not public. I replied that I had just dined there a few minutes ago, but was not feeling sick. He repeated his warning, a little more threatening. I replied that I was sick from their food and has been in the restaurant a few minutes earlier, and headed down to the basement where their restrooms are. While I was waiting, very uncomfortable, for someone to exit the toilet area of the men's room another person came down and very rudely ordered me to leave, saying repeatedly public rest room outside. I replied, again, that I had eaten there a few minutes before and was now getting sick. This man grew increasingly belligerent and threatening, crowding me in the little restroom. I stumbled outside and walked 50 very uncomfortable yards to the cold, damp public restroom, where I had a moment that people in such situations will identify with. It was not my last such moment today. There is another restaurant nearby, Ben Kay, that serves reliable sushi and where the staff seems to be very civil.”

“Awful check-in experience. The person checked us in was very unpleasant. He first opened the door to let us in but he was so abrupt the door hit my elbow hard. He didn't apologize for it. Instead, he said to me "you almost gave me a heart attack!" As we waited in the check-in area, we almost couldn't stand the smell of the place. It smelled like there were a group of cats living there. The room was ugly. The AC malfunctioned. It's ridiculous this place charges 3-star price. This place deserves a 1-star or 0 star status.”

“It was obvious walking in the door that the new owner is proud of his past accomplishments. Photos - awards - news clippings are posted for viewing. We have been there on numerous occasions and the food was very good. Service has always been and still is very good. This last trip was highly disappointing. Portions have shrunk to diet size and I'm pretty sure processed meat was used in their turkey dinner. The wonderful blueberry ginger bread that was always served with the meal along with tasty yeast rolls have been replaced by a silver dollar sized - dry - tasteless biscuit and some airline crackers with spread. We were able to get a mouse size piece of the blueberry ginger bread to take with us for about $4.00. The new owner needs to forget his past accomplishments and get real in the future.”

“Good menu, good food, good sized servings. I'm not into racing much but the racing memorabilia that coats the walls from front to back is quite interesting. The waitresses are nice and they have a full bar. Parking in the lot is kind of strange and limited. Over all good!”

“This is a popular place with locals and the after the bars get out crowd but honestly I think they are just being nice. Non air conditioned dining in a former cigarette smoking environment is not tasty. The wood paneled walls are reminiscent of an earlier time. The food is slopped together in a mass on the center of the plate. If you have to use the bathroom beware it smells like a public restroom, though you might be used to the smell by the time you have to use it if your lucky enough to be seated next to it. When you leave and hop in your car to drive home and shower. Later when you get back in your car the aroma will remind you of your earlier meal at the Golden Rooster.”

“I was very dissatisfied with my last visit to this restaurant. I have spent my summers outside of Rockland for my entire life and have visited this restaurant on numerous occasions because it is one of 2 restaurants in Rockland that has a water view. I have never been terribly impressed, but it has always been okay. This past time, however, my party of 8 was treated very rudely by both the hostess and the manager. We asked for an outside table, arriving well before the lunch rush (on a Monday) when there were multiple tables available on the deck. Instead the hostess seated us in a dirty, torn tent in filthy chairs. When we instead requested seats on the deck she went to the manager (interrupting his viewing of ESPN at the bar) and he rush us back out to the tent while insisting the view was the same from the dirty tent (it's not). Needless to say, we will not be returning.”

“I think that the last reviewer was completely wrong and he must have eaten at some other place, because me and my family eat there every time we go to OOB, we eat at Michele's Garden Cafe and have had excellent Food and Service. The only real complaint is that you need to get there early, seating is limited and they tend to fill up fast. A good value for your money!”

“Michele's is a great place to eat. Breakfasts are fast, reasonably priced and delicious! I love their blueberry pancakes. It is a nice family atmosphere. The staff is the best! They are so friendly and everybody seems to have fun there.”

“We go quite often, love their food. The buffet offers you a large variety of every option, such as vegetable dishes, soups, mainly meat dishes and appetizers. When I go to a restaurant I look to see if the people around me seem to be satisfied also. I have never heard anybody complain. They have newly renovated the restaurant and it's beautiful inside! Its comfy enough for an everyday meal but classy to accommodate a medium size wedding reception. From hardwood floors to warm browns and burgundy's to breathtaking beautiful chandeliers gives to the look of class. Even the table tops have colorful oriental pictures. It is truly a place to go.”

“The restaurant is dark, dirty and dingy. The atmosphere is cheesy and well out of date. Everything needs to be updated. We also stayed in the hotel. My advice. Don't! The rooms smell of mildew and the bedding is very old. Its too bad about the condition of the building because the surroundings are beautiful.”

“This is the worst restaurant I have ever visited. The lobster had no flavor. The clam chowder was bitter. Service was non-existent. How can you ruin seafood in Maine? The lobster came with nothing - not even butter. This has to be a tourist rip-off. I can't believe local people would go back.”

“Group of 6 called ahead for seating. Sat us at a booth that fit 4 normally, they sit us at a round table. We could hardly move our arms to eat. Waited longer than usual for our food. Royal sirloin steak was very thin and the chicken marsala was very dry. Requested baked potato and was served linguini. Instead of taking it back they said I could have both. My son-in-law paid with a $50 gift card and also $50 bill. The bill was $85. Server came back with gift card and no change. Saying the $15 was put onto the gift card. Never heard of this before and we were all upset but my son-in-law didn't want to cause a problem so he just accepted this. My husband and I were very upset but let it go because we were guests of his. We have eaten there many times before when visiting and never have had these problems.”

“Tons of TVs, great music a friendly staff and Jello Shots for all. We went in because of the name and stayed because of the staff and atmosphere. A fun place to meet some people watch a game, play some bar games and hang out with friends. Definitely worth checking out!”

“We have been customers of Willow's Pizza in South Portland for years as we like their pizza. We are low income family of 5, so we are lucky to even afford the pizza once in a while. We were harassed by the delivery person who looked like he was on some kind of drugs, and he refused to sign their buy 9 get one free card walking away & stating he will sign it when he gets a tip. At the time we could only afford to tip him $1+ as that is all we had extra. When I spoke to the manager I was told that if we threw them a couple of bucks now & then they wouldn't be that way and that we had been "stiffing" them for years. It was horrifying to hear the mentality of the manager. We are now scared to even eat the pizza for fear of them doing something to it since we did not know they take note of who "stiffs" them or not. Scary. We didn't realize they were keeping score of our tips. That is very wrong! They could do anything to that food. Beware poor tipper's.”
