Gaston et Gastounette
Mar 7, 2009 by Richard & Linda from Naples

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Fresh.
  • It's too far away from Naples, Florida.

“First time I went there on March 1970. And still enjoy going back. The bouillabaisse is memorable. All fresh and delicious. Fair prices for the quality of the meal. We'll be back again, and again.”

Buddha Bar
Feb 1, 2008 by Andreia

Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3
Food:[3] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • Atmosphere.
  • Service.

“Besides the decoration (the statue is beautiful), this is not a place to go: the service was horrible, the food presentation is bad and it's quite difficult not to find in Paris a better place to spend the money we paid for one meal, at dinner time (they even charge for collecting the clients jackets.). Ill never go back and strongly disservice anyone to go.”

Boccaccio (Le)
Oct 11, 2007 by Linda from Myrtle Beach, SC

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[10] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • The food, the service.
  • The noisy business dinner nearby.

“Two of us shared the Loup au Sel - a Mediterranean fish baked in a flour/salt combination that hardens and has to be cracked open. Watching the staff extract the fish, skin it, and bone it was a treat in itself. The fish melted in your mouth. The raspberry gateau was also fabulous, and the Italian waiter was a hoot. A total treat.”

Tour d'Argent (La)
Sep 25, 2007 by Djinn from Paris

Overall Rating: 4 User Rating Score: 4
Food:[4] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[4]

  • View, old-fashioned service.
  • Price.

“Old-fashioned institution & tourist trap. The view is of course still gorgeous and perfect for a romantic evening. If this is gourmet food that you are looking for, meals are not worth the price. Used to be a 3 star Michelin, now it is one only, and this is very generous. A lot of better places for the same cost.”

Yoji
Aug 27, 2007 by Laurence from London

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[1] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[1]

  • Fresh fish.
  • Everything else.

“My wife and I arrived without a reservation and were told that it was unlikely we would be able to eat here as the wait was likely to be considerable. We had never eaten Japanese food before and had been looking forward to this evening and so we decided to wait. When it became clear that we were not leaving we were seated almost immediately. We explained to the waitress that we were new to Japanese food and needed her help. She suggested a "mêlée" which we understood would be a selection of different items which she initially said was for two but then went on to ask if we would like one each. After checking with her that this was reasonable we opted for one each. A completely disinterested waiter served us two absurdly large plates of raw fish, soy sauce, plain rice and sliced ginger. We both have great appetites but were not able to eat half of what was served and had to send them back uneaten. This was such an inappropriate recommendation for 2 newcomers to Japanese food and we were very unhappy at receiving a bill for 94 euros (over £30 per plate of fish). Raw fish? Not really. We had rather hoped to get a varied selection of Japanese cuisine, not a protein overdose of Sushi. We were unable to explain this to the waitress and so asked for the Maitre D' who came to our table. She understood exactly what had happened and was in no doubt that we were unhappy. Any half-decent restaurateur who had the slightest notion of the meaning of service would have offered not to charge for the second plate, or would at least tried to make some peace (even a complementary glass of wine would have been some sort of gesture) but not this madam! Apart from saying "I am sorry for you" she made not one jot of compromise. We left feeling that we had been advised and fed quite inappropriately, served with disinterest and completely ripped off to boot!”

Buddha Bar

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1
Food:[3] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[3]

  • Location.
  • Horrible service.

“I have been there many time and I really love it! The atmosphere is awesome, the music, everything! Unfortunately you have unpleasant people working at the door.. After many great memories, I was just disappointed last night after being treated in an non respectful way by one of your bouncers. For no reason he just pushed me away. I was so sad afterwards that I just came home. I am really sorry for the whole team because I am sure that you never meant to hire someone so rude and impolite. I hope this changes pretty soon!”

Overall Rating: 4 User Rating Score: 4
Food:[8] • Service:[1] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Lovely views.
  • Stuffy service, ridiculously expensive.

“Perhaps the stuffiest restaurant I¿ve ever experienced. Plusses, fantastic views and great duck. Minuses superior air of waiting staff, formal dress code, extremely expensive and huge and complicated wine list. Expect to pay minimum 400 euros a basic meal for two.”

Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3

  • Beautiful looking place.
  • I guess you have to be in the know to enjoy the atmosphere.

“The pub looks very nice inside and out but I found the service not inviting as the staff were not open to conversation and the price was not nice compared to other bars in the area.”

Mi-Figue, Mi-Raisin
Mar 13, 2007 by Sherrie from Covina, California

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Food:[9] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

  • Friendly Service.
  • Nothing negative about this restaurant.

“This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. I¿ve been going to Cannes for work for almost 10 years and discovered this restaurant for the first time last April. It is the last restaurant at the very top of the rue due Sequent. I've eaten at Mi Figue Mi Raisin twice and enjoyed it each time. The first time I went with a large group and we were very impressed with everything, including the service. It was the perfect place. Casual, fun and great food. The Chef is very friendly and makes time to come out to greet his guests. That particular evening he brought out a pitcher filled with citrus flavored liquor and offered it to anyone brave enough to let him pour it directly into their mouths. We had a great time. ”

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7
Food:[9] • Service:[3] • Atmosphere:[7]

  • Food.
  • Service.

“Le taggliatelle is one of the eateries that are found along the board walk in mention. It is mentioned here because the pasta offered "linguine aux palourdes" were excellent! And. this is rare to find in menton and even rarer in these eateries that feel they do not have to make good food as the patrons (tourists )should be thankful to get the sun, the sea and the Riviera! The service was friendly but ¿authentic" Italian - French slower than usually! When asked if we were going to come back, would we be expecting a swifter service, the waiter answered candidly with a smile " no, only when it's raining! ".”

“Had lunch in August, 2006. Food was excellent though not incomparable. It's mainly the atmosphere: gorgeous decor and setting. Great service (if one likes bowing and scraping). Great one-time experience.”

Food:[9] • Service:[10] • Atmosphere:[10]

“An excellent meal served in an excellent atmosphere. Very romantic and relaxed. I only have experience of eating inside the restaurant, they have tables outside to the rear of the building an that appeared to have a livelier atmosphere than the inside. A great service from excellent waitress who spoke excellent English and was attentive but not intrusive. A great place I will visit again without doubt”

Buddha Bar
May 21, 2006 by Joe from New York

Overall Rating: 6 User Rating Score: 6
Food:[8] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • Well known, great location.
  • Crowded, expensive.

“You'll probably going there because some tour books has it on their list. Well, to be honest, if it wasn't famous, it would not been worth making a special trip to see it.

However, the neighborhood that it's located seemed fun; there are a lot of shops and restaurant around. The cafe itself is close to a metro stop. It's likely you would end up there anyway if you happen to be in the area.

Atmosphere was ok, but they were quite busy at the time so it was noisy and service slacked a bit.

Food and drinks were good, but it's very expensive. Overall, I would say there's so many other cafes in Paris, it's not hard to find one more to your liking.

Cafe 203

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[9] • Service:[7] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • So very romantic.
  • Hard to get a seat.

“This was the place I fell in love with my soon to be husband. I had been living in the city for three years and this was his first, and he asked me to take him around to some nice cafe. This one being one of my favorites, I had to take him there, and the charm and cozy atmosphere as well as the great wine selection they have did the trick. Before we went to the cinema quite a few excellent independent cinemas in the neighborhood we would always go back there for wine and cheese. I miss that place, full of memories. It can get quite full, better get there before 7PM to be seated.”

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[8] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[8]

  • Freshens of the food, friendly service and English speaking.
  • A beat difficult to find.

“Close to the city center of Bordeaux, but not in the best spot, the restaurant, l'escale Provencal, offers a very good value for money. The food has a Mediterranean style with lot of fishes, herbs and vegetables. The dining room is not too large and especially recommended for a quite dinner. The service is very pleasant and they speak English and a little of Spanish. A nice place to eat in Bordeaux.”

Boccaccio (Le)
Jun 2, 2005 by Donna from Middlewich

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9
Food:[10] • Service:[9] • Atmosphere:[9]

  • Excellent seafood and ambiance would definitely return and recommend a visit. Don't let the price of the platters put you off there's a large choice menu.
  • nothing negative about this restaurant for us

“This restaurant served us the best seafood platter we have ever eaten - and we've had a few in both France and Spain. There is a choice of 3 platters and we chose the mid range price one[approx 100 euros/ #70 and to be honest, there was more than enough for 3 adults we couldn't eat it all.

The desserts are all designed for sharing too - we shared a 'soup bowl' of chocolate mousse and saw one gentleman trying to eat a Rhum Baba designed for 2 by himself needless to say he was defeated!

There is a good selection of wines to choose from.”

“On our visit (End of Nov04). We enjoyed every aspect of this bar, including the atmosphere and live music on a friday night (celtic).

Nicko, the propriertor, is very warm and welcoming, as are his staff.

Not to mention his other bars, The Irish Tavern, and O'Hanlan's.

Do not visit Montpellier without experiencing the above pubs!

You would be craicer's not to!!!”
