User Reviews for Spain Restaurants« Go back to Oak Harbor Travel GuideResearch User Reviews for Spain (1-20 of 27)Bar Europa
“Our hotel concierge recommended Bar Europa to us. It is a little hard to find, but worth the search. They had a menu in English on a chalk board by their tables on the plaza. We had a wonderful thick tomato soup and a beet soup, but the best dishes were the hamburgers served with caramelized onion and a Roquefort sauce and their granny apple with goat cheese topped with a balsamic vinegar reduction. We liked this place so much we came back another evening.”

“We visited this restaurant in April 2009 and had exactly the same experience.”

“Our dinner here was outstanding - better than the restaurant in the 5 star hotel. Service was welcoming and gracious, the decor was attractive (unlike the shabby interior at the hotel) and there was no attempt to steer to an early dinner hour as the fancier restaurants did.”

“My now husband and I ate at this restaurant on our last night in Marbella. And let me tell you, it was worth the wait! Excellent food and atmosphere. If we ever get the chance to go back and visit, we will definitely stop at this restaurant again!”

“This place was so not marvelous! The food was horrible and the service was slow the wine tasted cheap! Don't eat here.”

“The food is great, the waiters have to be the most unhappy group of people I've ever seen - the owner is very friendly with the Spanish patrons - the head waiter pretends that English does not exist - great food - served by waiters chewing on lemons! It doesn't cost anything.”

“A terrible place, to be avoided at all costs. We had terrible and rude service when we visited. We had to beg for service and then they basically threw the bill at us. Food was mediocre - paella's way too salty. Overpriced-even for Plaza Nuevo's standards. Save your money.”

“Overpriced and way too appreciated for what it really was. The food was not exactly tapas but bigger rations, the food was average and part of it not even that. We have eaten so much better tapas elsewhere (where locals go) and for less of a price. Do not choose this, when we had been there for a while we realized that there were only tourists like us and no local people, always a sign of a not-so-good restaurant.”

“Overall it's got some funky atmosphere, little on the bare side of things. But the food was great (but then again most of the food is great in Madrid). Can't quite decide if I liked Madrid way too much.”

“Alona Berri is an absolute pleasure. The food is not only tasty; it is attractively presented to you with excellent service. The food available in the dining room provides a larger portion, unless you have the tasting menu. I tried just about everything and found every mouth full a delight!”

“It was great when I went. I suggest this restaurant as not a fancy-fancy restaurant but not a fast food restaurant. Its food is really good and the service is great! I had a really great meal! ”

“Be aware of the restaurant Taberna Real in Madrid at the corner of Plaza Isabel ii an Calle Arenal. We feel that they to take tourists for a ride. They offered us (three people) a selection of tapas which finally was a plate with slices of ham, 6 pieces of green asparagus and a plate with 15 gambas, 10 mussels and 4 crayfish. They charged us 140 euro for it.”

“This cafe with some tables overlooking la concha beach looked lovely but we were in for a shock. After waiting about 30 minutes to be served and wondering whether we had actually become invisible we tried to stop several waitresses as they walked past us to ask for a menu, only to be obviously deliberately ignored. Another 30 minutes later we obtained a menu ourselves and we tried to ask a waitress whether we could order, only to be told in an irritated manner that they were no longer serving food - despite watching a menu being given to another table shortly after. We asked then if we could order some drinks and we were told that there were only 3 servers and they were too busy to serve us at that particular moment! The nice location overlooking the beach made the wait bearable, but that was only by trying to ignore the extreme sour rudeness and bad manners of the waiting staff, and obvious incompetence in the running and organization of the cafe. After an hour of waiting someone actually came to take a couple of dirty cups out of many dirty things away from our table. If there were minus points on the scale I would have used them. I can¿t rate the food or drink as we left after waiting over an hour to be served, sitting with the previous customers dirty plates still on our table. I would advise you never to visit this cafe.”

“The food was the best we had all week, we tried a lot of restaurants. The portions are big enough. The restaurant was very nice and I loved the atmosphere. You really have to try it. <><>The restaurant has nothing to do with Sinatra himself but that doesn't matter. What's in a name?”

“The place is lit up like a nighttime baseball match with some wilted plants hanging from the walls and ceiling and that is called a "sunny patio" in the restaurants description. And this has to be the worst meal I have ever had in my life. Well worst few bites I got up paid the bill and left. Tasted like "rice-a-roni" out of a box Spanish rich flavor. Not to mention the fact they did not even try to cut the "baby carrots" that come out of the bag. The whole carrot just wedged into the rice with the rest of the frozen items peas muscles and chicken. Really a crime the food they put on the plate. Stay away is all I can tell you.”

“My friends and I went here often while I was studying in Seville. It was a nice change from all the other Spanish tapes every other place had. My favorite was the chicken breast in coconut sauce (Pechuga de polo en salsa de coco) and the potatoes in a red sauce (papas en mojo picon?). They have tons of vegetarian and even vegan items and the different sizes of portions (tapas, media raciones, y raciones) allow you to try many things. This was my favorite place in Seville!! ”

“This restaurant has NOTHING to do with Sinatra. They don't play Sinatra music, they don't have any pictures of Sinatra, and upstairs they have a video monitor that plays old movies, you guessed it, not Sinatra old movies. When I was there they were playing Casablanca with no audio. Also, be prepared to inhale a lot of second-hand smoke. ”

“I used to eat in the Oriented years ago. Excellent value and good food then but now. Awful. Ate there last week on a trip to Madrid. I was served fish which I'd suspect had been cooked the day before and microwave before being given to me. Vile. I ate three forkfuls and left the rest. The Waitress didn't bother to ask if there was a problem. Nobody seemed to care that we'd had a bad experience. Place was empty at a time it should have been full. Follow the examples of the locals and avoid the place!”

“We stayed in the Hotel Guadalupe for 2 nights to visit Alhambra Palace, we were not disappointed with either of these. However, we made the mistake of visiting this restaurant, bad move. Apart from the location there is NOTHING that I would recommend this restaurant. My wife could have ended up with food poisoning as her Chicken was sent back twice to the kitchen the outer was cooked but the inner was RAW and this piece was only quarter inch thick if that, FROZEN vegetables still HARD were served with FROZEN Swordfish and at TOP prices, my advise is STAY AWAY.”

“Unusual venue with a great atmosphere. Clientele mostly Grenadian which is always a good sign. The tap as is excellent and drinks are excellent value. We visited twice during our stay and on the second visit the staff gave us two free wines at the end of our meal. Will definitely return.”

“I am pretty sure Habanita ripped us off. We were charged 13.50 Euros for a small jug (maybe half liter) of sangria. The receipt said "various" and then the price. From my experience in the restaurant industry, "various" would be where they enter whatever price they feel like. I shouldn't have paid it. I think they did this because they delivered the wrong food to our table and we started to eat it. There is no way we would've known it was not our food because we asked them to bring whatever they recommended. They pulled the food out of our hands and off the table mid-bite and said "No food for you!" and than billed us 13.50 for sangria. I think they were trying to recover the cost of the food they accidentally delivered to us, and only had one bite of. The food was not very good either.”
