Sgt. Pepper's
Jul 29, 2009 by Ola from Malmö

Overall Rating: 6 User Rating Score: 6
Food:[7] • Service:[8] • Atmosphere:[3]

  • Okay food, and very friendly staff.
  • Very low revenue of dishes, you had to order from the menu although it was a rotating dish-thing restaurant.

“A bit disappointed, there are probably better Sushi Restaurants in Beijing. Not as cheap as you would expect in China, but still cheap.”

Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant

  • The beer & wine.
  • Food, service and value for money.

“We dined at the Wangfujing branch, and were not sure if we got the John Malkovich floor, because having read about the best duck in China, delightful ambience etc., we were in for a big disappointment. There was a fairly extensive menu for my fish/ veggie girlfriend- prawns on toast was selected which ended up being inedible, one piece of toast bizarrely being delivered with half an inch of mayonnaise on top, sprinkled with 100s & 1000s dessert garnishing. The duck was cold and bland, I ate much better of the same dish while in China and consistently get better in London. The greeting staff were not interested in the slightest in listening to our requests, only focusing on getting us in the lift up. The place was about 50% full so there was lots of waiting staff, but they were clearly only interested in getting home for the night (we ate around 9 pm). The service was average at best, and ambience levels about the same as the cafeteria at work. We knew this was not going to be the cheapest place in China, but really it was very overpriced for the food & overall experience. (the toast was the same price as the duck.) The waiter at the table pointedly counting the money which didn't include anything extra over while we finished our bottle of wine was a nice touch to finish off. Not recommended.”
