“Timeshare people prey on unsuspecting paying customers without warning! We were enjoying a nice afternoon with another couple and we decided to take a break at Oscars. It looked like a nice place on the river. We were greeted by a nice lady, and the two for one margaritas sounded great. We ordered an appetizer which we found was rather skimpy. We were having a wonderful conversation, when this lady who gave the impression she was a hostess interrupted us and asked us how our lunch was. She was extremely friendly, asking about where we lived, our families and shared information about her own children, etc. To make a long story short, after almost a half hour of her non-stop talking, it became apparent (it took this long and we are experienced at spotting timeshare salespeople) that she was trying to sell timeshare. When you visit Puerto Vallarta, you have to expect to ward off a lot of timeshare salespeople-we found out just about everyone in town does sales on the side-we were told this by the girl working in the tequila store just down from Oscars (she was also one of them). But I absolutely draw the line about timeshare salespeople who approach customers in a restaurant who are paying for their own meal! This is outrageous! When I approached the lady who initially greeted us, who apparently was the manager, she sympathized and stated that unfortunately the restaurant had ties with a timeshare condo and it was like she had no choice but to allow it to happen. When I gave the "friendly" timeshare sales lady a piece of my mind about how she ruined our afternoon, I was only offered a non-stop smirk. This was really annoying since she could talk so much before. Stay away from this restaurant! Teach them a good lesson. When we passed by this place at night, it was virtually empty-no wonder! We deeply regret actually paying the bill including the tip. Want a fantastic restaurant-we highly recommend cueto's. Great seafood and they also offer a great menu fun-fun-fun and very down to earth Mexican restaurant. We were there 18 years ago and it's still fantastic.”

“My co worker and I just happen to stumble upon La Lanterna after a grueling walk around PSDLR and the Zonarosa and were surprised to find it directly across the street from our hotel. We were greeted warmly and after seated we had to overcome a bit of a language barrier as neither of us speaks Spanish well. The owners son, pier, who spoke better English, approached and handled us with grace, warmth and a very friendly demeanor. He made food suggestions that turned out to be fantastic choices. (I hope I can find a "filet el burro steak" here that was cooked just like it. Awesome, but make it medium, as it is a bit too rare in the center to finish it off.) As it turned out, several of our other co workers had been there as well and spoke highly of La Lanterna. We liked it so much, we returned two more times during our month long work visit. .”

“Your hosts have the best place in PV. Dont miss this gem. Executive Chef is masterful with sea food from presentation to variety and the service and ambience is the best. Coming from "sea food nation (Cape Cod, MA) this was above the tide of usual sea food/dining experience.”

“This restaurant had horrible service! The atmosphere was very pleasant; we were seated right beside the river. Nice table settings and even music. Unfortunately, my good comments stop there. The waiter was hesitant to answer any questions about drink prices. We wound up with undisclosed high price tequila. A group showed up at the next table, our food arrived, and that was the last we saw of the waiter. We waited for 30 minutes until I flagged down another waiter to complain. Our drinks had been gone for some time and we weren't served water, so we were parched and angry amid a lot of dirty dishes. So much for the second free drink and how convenient, too. The original waiter expressed little concern. Poor service. And we won't go back!”

“The restaurant is beautifully situated in Chapultepec park beside the lake. If the weather is nice you can sit outside on the weekends which are ideal for children as there is an outdoor play area and ducks near by which love to be fed. The price for the buffet is on the steep side; unless you are a very large hungry man you won't eat your money's worth. We have a 3 year old who would rather play than eat and ultimately we get charged for a kids buffet when he only eats half a box of cereal. Very costly! The prices on the menu are affordable; however, the menu is only available on weekdays. We do return though on occasion as the atmosphere is a nice change in such a hectic city.”

“This restaurant has wonderful food, friendly staff and you know you're eating in a real Mexican restaurant right along with the locals. Don't miss it! We've been vacationing in Aca for many years, and El Fagon is one of our favorites. Nothing fancy, just great food with a very inexpensive price tag.”

“We went to Acapulco again this February for a month. (2007) Much to our dismay, Dino's was closed! We asked around and the cabbies told us it had something to do with not paying taxes. We were so disappointed. We're there for a month and sometimes we would go to Dino's as much as 3 times a week. If anyone hears that they have reopened, please post it. I hate waiting till next winter to find out. This restaurant has been one of our favorites for the last 11 years. ”

“It has been a few years since I was lucky enough to eat at cheo's, but it is a place I remember very fondly. In fact, whenever I think of merida, I think of cheo's. The personal size pizzas are uniquely delicious and something I crave regularly.”

“Being an Arab here on business, I searched for a Lebanese restaurant that can provide me the comfort of home. There is not much choice here in the city. If this restaurant was in the Arab world it would rate poorly. The taste was disappointing. Thank goodness for the olives and the pita bread which I nibbled on. I ended up spending 200 pesos for one person. None of the waiting staff could speak Arabic (being an English and Arabic speaker only) which I struggled to order the basic dishes. Not an authentic place, but then again as I said earlier, there is no other choice.”

“The person in front told us it was 40 dollars to get in and get unlimited drinks, and that there was no other option than that. We were first time guests so we didn't know. There were only a few bars that they had so packed you had to wait 20 minutes for a drink. They wouldn¿t give any shots, or mix any good drinks. And if you finally did get a drink, and you wanted a little more, they would wave the tip jar in your face. I think after spending 40 dollars on free drinks you should get as much as your stomach can hold. Even without the drink all night pass we found the beer was 7 dollars. The stages weren't even that crazy, not a lot going on. I'm telling everyone I know to save their money, and never go to pat O¿Brien¿s in Cancun.”

“3 of us had dinner at Oscar's and we were all happy with our meal and with the service. We had stopped in the afternoon of that day and were given a chit for a free drink if we ate dinner there that night of course, we did. Wait staff was very pleasant and we were given good service. Would recommend it to anyone. Please we were even offered a shawl if we felt a little chilly.”

“Worst experience ever in a restaurant in Mexico. My brother, my two kids and I went to the crab house in Cancun in August of '06 and their service was terrible. My kids ordered a hamburger and fish fingers while we ordered seafood. The kid meals took about 45 min. To be brought out and we sat there almost 2 hours and our meals were never brought out. The waiters kept trying to serve us drinks. There were only 3 tables occupied in the whole restaurant. We finally got up and the rest. Manager. Said we had to pay for what we consumed. I agreed and asked how we were going to be compensated for the loss of our time and he said that didn't matter. You could only imagine how angry I was and after all that we were literally shoved out the door by one of the waiters. The rest manager. Sarcastically looked us in the eye and told us to have a nice evening after. Unless you want an experience like this your better off skipping this place!”

“If you ever get sick of Mexican food it's a good alternative in Mexico it feels like you are back in the states even thought a lot of people do not like that it is very laid back cheap and very friendly. I do not see what not to love.”

“The food was outstanding. They take traditional dishes and add some small changes in order to create unique traditional Mexican dishes. The service was outstanding! Everyone there was cheerful, eager to please and extremely knowledgeable about the food and its distinct flavors. The menu is extensive and can please any diner as is the Margarita and Tequila selection. The outside deck overlooking the Laguna has a great view of Cancun and is very romantic. ”

“My safe haven when I was in Mexico. Great service and great food. It was traditionally Mexican with a Western feel to it, everything looked and felt clean and well regulated. I'd definitely go again the next time I'm in Mexico and would recommend you to do the same.”

“Here we were, post hurricane and Tony was laying excellent food out in what used to be the bar area of his place. The main part had been seriously damaged by the hurricane. We were there to celebrate Olivia Hewett's 15th birthday and had an EXCELLENT time. Thanks Tony for great food, friendly service and a wonderful experience. If you are in Cozumel, find Tony's and enjoy, it is food like you do not want to miss. ”

“I had heard from a friend back home that this was "the place" for Italian food in Cabo. The food, service, location, value and ambience is great! To start off with the food, delicious wood fired pizza, homemade pasta, and great seafood and steaks too. I recommend the Pasta Combo for $12 U.S. dollars (lasagna, cannelloni and fettuccine alfredo). Friendly and attentive staff. Even the owners are here to greet us everyday. As for prices, most dishes are under 10 U.S. dollars. If you have ever been here to Cabo and compared other restaurants, La Trattoria prices are hard to beat. They now serve breakfast, too. Excellent breakfast special for $4.50. This place is a perfective alternative after eating Mexican food. They also offer free internet service and phone calls to the U.S.A. and Canada, not the U.K., though. I am actually sitting here outside in the terrace with my wireless laptop typing away while having a pizza and a Corona beer. One of the best things about La Trattoria is the location. In the heart of downtown, a few steps from the Marina and across from Squid Roe. At night its the best place to meet with friends, have a drink, an appetizers or a full course meal. We like to meet here then head out on a night on the town. They are open from 8 am to 12 midnight. Two weeks on holiday have gone fast!”

“This restaurant was one of the worst I have been to. It wasn't the food or atmosphere that made Christmas dinner a living hell, but the fact that they only had one person waiting tables. We sat down to eat at 7:00 PM, the waiter got us drinks and then wasn't seen again for re-fills or anything. Around 8 he came back to take our orders, and to give us 2 bread baskets for the entire table of 11. Around 8:30 we got our salads, a round of drinks, and some more bread, and once again the waiter vanished to the other tables. 9:00 came and went, still no food, no bread, no drinks, and dirty dishes on the table. At about 10:00 we got our food! It was brought out one order at a time, and because the plates are so small people were done eating before some even got their food. Oh and some of the food was cold, like it had been sitting for a few minutes. 10:30 came and we got the bill, the waiter said sorry it took so long and bought us a round of drinks, then he told us that he was the only one working on the floor and that there was only one cook. About 5 other parties had been seated in the 3.5 hours we were there, and all of them had gotten up and left for lack of service! The entire night was a disaster, it was . As we left we noticed the owner just standing around looking over the tables instead of helping out the cook or the waiter.”

“We have eaten there twice and were disappointed on both occasions. The atmosphere is wonderful. Warm, romantic, sophisticated. The service is very "continental", which is somewhat unusual in Cabo. However, the food is very mediocre and very expensive. The only excellent part of the meal was the dessert, a heavenly chocolate cake. Interestingly, I discovered the very same dessert at The Office the next night. Unless you are on an expense account and don't care about the quality of the meal itself, avoid Edith's. ”

“A bit expensive for what we got. Been to many of the Hard Rocks (wife collects shot glasses). This one was nothing to go out of your way for. Wait staff was slow (we were there for lunch and with only three other tables full, it took 15 minutes for drinks and 30 minutes before food arrived). Souviener area was very small and many items out of stock.”

The cerviche is always refreshing and the place is a gathering post for all the regulars who haunt Caleta. I would not consider my vacation complete unless I hit the Cabana. My roommate and I spent virtually every afternoon at Cafe Pacifico, watching Cubs games in spanish, enjoying the cool breeze coming off the sea, and chatting the Pepe the bartender. This place is not in the tourist zone, and few tourists discover it. Papa Hemingway would've loved this place.”
