User Reviews for Montreal Restaurants« Go back to San Francisco AttractionsResearch User Reviews for Montreal (1-10 of 10)Bistro on the Avenue
“I used to frequent the Bistro once or twice a month, but I have now found that in the last two or three months that the quality has somewhat depreciated. I would almost say that it seems that the Bistro has simply because tired and that the staff that appears to be working there seems the same. Although we all know that it is a landmark, sometimes you need to just know when it is time to Throw in the towel.”

“It has a gorgeous décor, more precisely its main wall proudly displays remains of the Expo 67 Indian pavilion. Tourists actually come to Le Taj specifically for that! Moreover, Le Taj prepares a lot of its specialties in house: the naan, the kulfi, the tea, which are also the most popular sellers, so you know that Le Taj has figured out the right recipe and will offer nothing but fresh products.”

“The Ritz is the home of the Anglo establishment in Montreal - weddings, Barmitzvas, up-scale high-school graduations, business meetings etc. But it also pulls in many international visitors. It's ambience is very traditional English-Montreal, with obsequious service, lots of expensive cutlery, and waiters in black tie. It is currently being completely renovated and is closed (Summer 2008 to ??? 2010). IT will reopen in a new posture, in an effort to retain and recapture its position of a great Montreal luxury hotel and hospitality establishment.”

“Love this place! Great food and drinks to a techno beat. After dinner, it changes to a club and you'll be drinking with the hot servers and hostess! Dress up and look your best, this place is for the fashionable and trendy. If you are a business traveler looking for an upscale swanky atmosphere, this place is upscale cool. A good value for your money? Well, its pricey, but delicious! If you don't really care about the price, this is good food. I had the red snapper and it was some of the best around. My friends had veal and something else (roast beef?) and loved their dishes too. We all tasted each other's food, and I can vouch for their dishes, awesome. Since we were three guys hanging out, we loved the hot bartenders and servers with legs up to there! A good way to start a night out on the town. Service was slow, had to wait for a table at the bar, but we didn't mind too much. They were packed on a Saturday night!”

“I went there with my girlfriend to have a drink on the balcony upstairs. They gave us seats closer to the wall rather then the edge of the street. When I asked them if we could switch, the server told me those seats are for eating patrons only. I asked him for a couple drinks and an ashtray. The drinks and ashtray didn't show up for nearly 20 minutes! The server even walked right passed us and said nothing while we were waiting, and ignored us when we left! Terrible servers. At least to us little guys. They served people ashtrays and drinks who were ordering food quick as ever!”

“This is an apparently popular restaurant with tables looking out over the busy summer street scene. It's great for people watching, which is a good thing because the wait for our food was very long. Although aspiring to be an upscale Italian restaurant, our waiter was lost when we tried to order by using the Italian names listed in the menu! We had to read him the French descriptions under each entry instead. The food was disappointing overall. The house salad was fine--very fresh butter lettuce with a fine but ordinary vinaigrette dressing. My grilled salmon with rice and grilled zucchini was just ok--both rice and salmon were overcooked and dry, although the caper and vegetable garnish was tasty and salvaged the meal. I didn't try any other entries, but 3 of my 4 companions left most of their food on their plates. The ravioli and the French onion soup in particular were nearly untouched. With so many excellent restaurants up and down the street, I suggest passing Pino by!”

“If I could give scores of 11 or above, I would. I cannot remember when I have enjoyed a better meal. The atmosphere (in the Montreal restaurant) was rustic-chic, the staff friendly, courteous and efficient, and the food defies description. Everything from the wine, through the appetizers, fish and dessert was exceptional. I would consider a visit to New York just to be able to eat at a Miles restaurant again. A must-do for anyone visiting New York, Montreal or Athens.”

“When visiting Montreal a few months ago with my wife, We definitely had to check out the Taj restaurant, because we heard nothing but great things from online reviews. We decided to try our luck with Indian food, and its a good thing we did! The restaurant is decorated with gorgeos art from India, and a lovely atmoshphere in general. The service was grat, our waiter helped us decide upon some dishes for first time indian food eaters. We had the butter chicken, the spinach and cheese dish (forgot the name), and the melt in your mouth Nan bread. The food was absolutely incredible, and our complimets went to the chef, who you can actually see cook the food, because the kitchen is glassed off so people can see inside. An overall wonderfull eating experience at Restaurant Le taj, A must visit if in Montreal! ”
