“We paid $20 for a pizza. It arrived 50minutes after we ordered it and it was obviously a supermarket pizza the kind you defrost and microwave. We later found out that the pizza dough had gone off but obviously they decided to improvise rather than offer us a refund or another item off the menu. Very bad service, very bad value for money. would not recommend.”

“Really nice unpretentious relaxed food court, clean and well managed by the look of it. Nice variety.”

“Such a horrible evening. Never have I experienced such a rude manager. Please do not bother going here.”

“Used to be a great place. We were really looking forward to making this our haunt when moving to Oriental Parade, but unfortunately ownership or management has changed in the meantime and the current owners/managers don't inspire confidence. The worst coffee in Wellington! This assessment is based on five or six visits - we didn't want to give up too easily.”

“Excellent food, excellent service. Their specialty, Beijing Duck, must be pre-ordered at least 24hrs before your booking.”

“Extremely friendly staff - always on the lookout to help. The cafe food is brilliant, great muffins and fudge, the barista is sensational - I think his name is Gary. A great coffee every time”

“My partner and I went to Toast on a cold Saturday morning hoping for an excellent hot meal as is often available at Wellington's mostly fantastic cafe scene. However what we got was a grim reception by the first waitress who kept her back to us for some 3 minutes before giving us a dismissive wave over her shoulder and suggesting we take ourselves upstairs to find a seat. The coffee and hot chocolate that followed were very good. However, the food was abysmal. My partner's Toast Baggy was sans eggs, quote, the chef changed the water and it didn't heat up fast enough. However it seems he waited a while, because the food was Luke warm and the plate stone cold. My own Lambs Kidneys were an example of how one cooks kidneys when one doesn't know how. There was it seems next to no preparation, other than being cut in half. They were chewy and stringy, still having all the fat and tubes inside.”

“The cafe was good until new owners took over and the whole place changed. The food was better before, everything was. Pancakes are still good value for money, (you cant even eat a whole plate on a hungry day). And the people who work there, Moa, Verity, Josh, Lucy, Cameron are really nice and helpful. The owners cant speak English well though.”

“Very disappointing, having eaten there before, we were let down on every count. We were seated upstairs and felt removed from other diners. When the food came (we did wonder if we had been forgotten) was disappointing and when we told the waiter he was obviously not pleased. He did replace one dish but this was almost thrown at the lady eating it, he them continued to scrape the food from one dish to another beside us. All in all disappointing for a restaurant I have enjoyed before, but would not be back”

“Good desserts, menu for young children contains 'edible' foods such as fries, chicken nuggets, fish and chips, lovely atmosphere, especially at night-time. ”
