Named for its proximity to the Auckland Trotting Club Raceway at Alexandra Park, Gee Gee's Bar and Brasserie is well known to locals and frequent race-goers for its good food, atmosphere and attentive service. Trotting regalia adorns the front bar area. The restaurant, at the rear, offers a children's menu and even high chairs. The owner, Ivan Rudez, is of Croatian origin, and the meals are often Mediterranean in flavour and presentation, and always generous in proportion. Hearty steaks feature on the menu alongside pizzas and seafood dishes. The wine list has plenty of variety.
