Located in the trendy suburb of Melville, Hard Times Cafe teems with regulars from bohemian to hippie to white collar worker. That the restaurant appeals to such a variety of tastes can be attributed to its tasteful reflection of nostalgia, as well as great food. Pictures of icons from an era most can't recall adorn the walls. The mellow atmosphere is further enhanced by the jazz music - a live jazz band plays every Sunday. Although Hard Times Cafe reflects the USA in its decor there is no doubt about the menu's Greek influence. The menu includes lighter meals for the not so hungry. The wine list reflects a sensible South African choice.
