Situated right at the end of the southern stretch of Vaci utca, this restaurant is always packed during the tourist season.
The Galilei resembles a German beer cellar although it claims to have a family atmosphere. The long narrow domed cellar is not very inviting but during the summer the terrace restaurant on Vaci utca is very appealing.
The menu comes in a variety of languages as befits a tourist restaurant. Strangely however, the waiter speaks only Hungarian with a smattering of German. Dishes include spaghetti, steak and pork cooked in a variety of ways. Lighter dishes include trout, carp and salad. The wines and beers are all sold at Vaci utca prices: around Ft 400 for half a liter of lager and house wine at Ft 480 a glass.
