Due to the damage caused by Hurricane Wilma, the following description may no longer be accurate. Please consider this when making your travel plans. La Destileria gives the Caribbean all the typical flavors of cuisine from Guadalajara, which includes tortas ahogadas (bread filled with a stew, covered in a red hot sauce), stuffed poblano peppers (with cheese, meat or tuna), and fish with coriander. Wash it down with the always-popular national drink, tequila, with over 150 different types available.

Specialties: "Chiquihuite Maximiliano," pastries stuffed with chicken, cream cheese and a mushroom that grows on corn (Huitlacoche), native only in this region. Poblano peppers are a side dish.

The decor is Old Mexican Hacienda and includes the Museo del Tequila (Tequila Museum) where tequila's history is graphically explained. Mariachis perform from 1pm to 1am. Moderate prices. Parking available.

  • Our waiter let us sample some of the unique flavors and sauces that were in the en trees we had ordered so that we would not be disappointed with our dinners.
  • Nothing!!!!

“The food was outstanding. They take traditional dishes and add some small changes in order to create unique traditional Mexican dishes. The service was outstanding! Everyone there was cheerful, eager to please and extremely knowledgeable about the food and its distinct flavors. The menu is extensive and can please any diner as is the Margarita and Tequila selection. The outside deck overlooking the Laguna has a great view of Cancun and is very romantic. ”
