Knuckles
9-1 Murasakino Nishinocho, Senbon Higashi-iru Kitaoji, Kita-ku, Kyoto, JapanKnuckle's, just opposite Daitokuji temple, is a long established original New York sandwich bar transported to Kyoto. It is great stop for homesick New Yorkers and those seeking a taste of the "Big Apple" deli-style.
The woody interior with a good, raised view of the street makes it a pleasant place to linger.
On any visit to Knuckles you should sample a few of the following from the varied and well-made menu: rye-bread sandwiches, nachos, bagels and cakes. Imported beers, cool margaritas and good coffees add to the ambience. Average price per person runs about JPY1,500.
