Chloe's BarYoung & Jackson's Hotel, 1 Swanston Street, Melbourne, AustraliaThe historical landmark, Chloe's Bar, is unsurpassed for both its world-wide recognition and also its place in Melbourne's heart. Young & Jackson's Hotel started life in the halcyon days of the 19th century gold rush era that brought Australia much of its early wealth. The bar's centrepiece is a painting of a woman, Chloe, who is totally naked. Painted by French artist Jules Lefebvre, it was hung there in 1909. Many Australian soldiers claim Chloe was the last woman they saw before boarding trains to head off to war. Basic pub fare such as steak or pasta starts from AUD8 per person.
