Vineyard

71a Acland Street, St Kilda, Melbourne, Australia

Despite Vineyard's no advertising policy it is always bustling. This casual yet trendy establishment is completely transformed when the glass doors are open and patrons spill onto the patios and surrounding lawns. Bands perform outside on Sunday afternoons and inside at night. For an entree or light meal, try the salmon and baby rocket (AUD10) or Mediterranean rice balls with mango chutney (AUD8.50). More substantial mains include fish and chips (AUD16), chicken, pasta and grilled lamb shashliks, steaks and hamburgers. Salads come in large serves and make a nice accompaniment. There are freshly squeezed juices, hot drinks and a well-stocked bar.

“The Vineyard encapsulates all that is Melbourne, positioned in the heart of St. Kilda. The overall vibe and experience I had whilst there was for every minute enjoyable- and wait until you try the food! ”

  • The place has a friendly, energetic vibe
  • The service can be sloppy

“As the name suggests, the Vineyard's reputation is as a bar more than a restaurant. It is the watering hole of choice for St Kilda locals (many of whom are generally artists, musicians or unique and eclectic free spirits). What is most striking about the Vineyard is that it's a vibrant and friendly place. It's a great place for meeting people. As a local, I find that it's a great place for an end-of-the-week drink with friends. I imagine that it would be an excellent place for younger traveler (20-40 years old) to meet friendly Melbournians and find out more about local culture.”
