Taj (Le)

2077 Stanley Street, (Near Sherbrooke), Montreal, QC, Canada
Tel: 514 845 9015

This graceful spot is one of downtown's best-known Indian restaurants, and certainly one of its most elegant. The modern decor features pink and white tablecloths and beautiful wall hangings. The lunch buffet is a huge draw. The a la carte menu features appetizers like bhajis and samosas (CAD2.50-3.95), and main courses run the gamut of Indian cuisine. Nawabi Korma is a mixture of lamb, beef or chicken in a yogurt-based sauce (CAD13.95); vegetarian options include Channa Masala, a spicy chickpea dish (CAD7.95). All main courses come with rice or naan bread.

  • Amazing food, service and ambiance.
  • Can't taste everything all at once; must come back!

“It has a gorgeous décor, more precisely its main wall proudly displays remains of the Expo 67 Indian pavilion. Tourists actually come to Le Taj specifically for that! Moreover, Le Taj prepares a lot of its specialties in house: the naan, the kulfi, the tea, which are also the most popular sellers, so you know that Le Taj has figured out the right recipe and will offer nothing but fresh products.”

  • Food was incredible, prices were good, waiting staff were very helpful, and the atmosphere was very romantic.

“When visiting Montreal a few months ago with my wife, We definitely had to check out the Taj restaurant, because we heard nothing but great things from online reviews. We decided to try our luck with Indian food, and its a good thing we did! The restaurant is decorated with gorgeos art from India, and a lovely atmoshphere in general. The service was grat, our waiter helped us decide upon some dishes for first time indian food eaters. We had the butter chicken, the spinach and cheese dish (forgot the name), and the melt in your mouth Nan bread. The food was absolutely incredible, and our complimets went to the chef, who you can actually see cook the food, because the kitchen is glassed off so people can see inside. An overall wonderfull eating experience at Restaurant Le taj, A must visit if in Montreal! ”
