Aside from perhaps the Beaver Club, this Bishop Street institution hosts the most established power scene in the city; the tastefully decorated interior has seen some of Montreal's best known faces. Despite this, the overall effect suggests relaxed sophistication more than an old boys' club. The Provencale cuisine, under the direction of Jacques Muller, is unabashedly carnivorous, hearty and expensive: the Pescadou, a traditional French seafood soup, is an oft-mentioned specialty. The wine list offers no quarter, ranging from CAD35 to where mortals fear to tread.
