This very popular pub-restaurant is as well known for its extensive menu and outdoor games as for its range of beers and spirits. The building was originally owned by The British Council but now it has been totally refurbished whilst retaining its original Edwardian features, including superb open fireplaces and a beautiful wooden staircase. There is a wide range of draught lagers and ales, including Old Speckled Hen and Fullers English Pride, while the extensive wine list starts at #10 a bottle. On the food front, you can get filling options such as leek and potato hotpot for #5.50 or various salads at between #5 and #6.
