Old Queen's Head (The)40 Pond Street, Sheffield, United KingdomSurrounded by modern buildings, and situated close to the bus interchange, Sheffield's oldest house is now being used as a pub. The house was built in 1475 - a last reminder of Sheffield's medieval origins. Once known as "the House in the Ponds", it was originally surrounded by riverside fields. The inside of the pub was restored in 1949 and again in recent years, although it still retains its timbered walls and many of its original features, such as a wooden Queen's head, carved on one of the timber beam ends. Today, the pub is popular and its warm, friendly atmosphere reflects the city as a whole. A pleasant beer garden is situated outside.
