Located on Leidesplein, this Grand Cafe is everything you would expect from a Grand Cafe: it's big, it's beautiful, it's expensive and people come here to be seen, especially at weekends. This restaurant may not be everybody's cup of tea, but you'll probably want to have a look around anyway. Depending on the type of person you are, you'll either flee, running for the hills (not easy in Holland) or blend in with the crowd and refuse to go anywhere else for the rest of the day/evening. The terrace is a nice place to spend a sunny afternoon and there are plenty of sheltered spots inside where you can hang out and enjoy a bit of privacy.

“Really enjoyed Amsterdam, great city and friendly locals but avoid this excuse for a restaurant at all cost! After getting disgusting, greasy food, at an already extortionate price for what it was and the waitress was extremely rude. When I queried it and requested a paper bill (which they do not offer, by the way) after waiting 10 minutes, the waitress slammed the money on the table without one word of an apology. Never experienced such dreadful customer service in any other city or restaurant and I have traveled a lot! What a terrible advert for The Netherlands!”
