Purple Heather (The)
Henry Street, Killarney, IrelandThere is a traditional pub atmosphere here with locals shouting conversations across the room, the television running above the bar, and meals served at both tables and at the bar counter. Children are made quite welcome and will undoubtedly find all the action amusing. The Purple Heather has won innumerable food awards and there is a lot more on their menu than the usual bar fare. Open sandwiches on brown bread are a speciality and check out the list of omelettes. The Purple Heather omelette has a hefty combination filling of potato, cheese, onion and thyme all encased in a tender egg wrap. If you are really feeling hungry, the fisherman's salad has a boatload of fish served on a bed of fresh greenery.
