Fine Line (The)

At last, a dining and drinking establishment for the 21st century. It's a pub, but thankfully free of any faux-authentic artefacts littering the bar and it's a restaurant but is devoid of any stuffiness. Instead, you've got a funky and stylish place with a very upbeat but relaxed atmosphere, all of which attracts Clifton's young professionals and wealthier students. Those after a drink can hang out in the lounge/bar area on the large sofas, listening to the virtual DJ system, browsing through the cocktail menu (from around #3.50), or choosing from the wide range of bottled beers, spirits, wines and champagne. Those feeling slightly peckish can get bar snacks, but those feeling ravenous should make their way to the restaurant upstairs. The menu here is adventurous - seared tuna salad, chilli-chicken with noodles, tomato and mozzarella risotto cakes etc. - and house wine starts at #11.70 a bottle. Perfect for an unfussy but quality night out.
