Popeye's Diner

Brunel Lock Road, Cumberland Basin, Hotwells, Bristol, United Kingdom

There's no better cure for a hangover than one of the massive breakfasts here. Popeye's is a transport cafe (also known as the Yellow Cafe thanks to its bright exterior), popular with lorry drivers, locals, students, pensioners and trendies alike. What draws such an eclectic crowd here? The food for a start - enormous fried breakfasts, liver and onion casserole, and naturally, chips with everything. Then there's the ambience - a good old fashioned greasy spoon cafe, but with a wonderful view of the river. The prices help too - breakfasts from #3.50 - and finally there's the groovy metal tables and booths. Don't come here if you're looking for frills and napkins on the table, but if only a big fry-up will do, look no further.
