Caffe Uno

One of a large chain of licensed Italian restaurants based in London, the Bath Caffe Uno is situated in the Empire Building, an old, spacious, high-ceilinged building close to Pulteney Bridge. Solid wooden tables and chairs, dark wooden floors, and bright, bold and colourful frescoes around the walls give Caffe Uno a comfortable continental ambience. A good selection of starters, ranging from garlic bread to warm duck salad (chargrilled slices of duck flavoured with balsamic vinegar, dry Martini, spring onions and fresh ginger on salad leaves) are offered. For the main course there are a variety of 12" thin crust pizzas, spaghetti, tagliatelle, and lasagne, but don't disregard the selection of such tempting house specials as 'Salsicce Mediterranea' (Mediterranean pork sausage with caramelised red onions in balsamic vinegar with a mash of potatoes, leeks and parmesan) - they really are delicious and highly recommended. All sauces are home-made and freshly prepared, and there is a separate children's menu.
