This annual convention is held exclusively for members of the music industry, although there are plenty of gigs open to the general public, which are showcased in venues across the city. The larger venues host well-known bands, while the smaller stages feature newcomers. Popkomm takes place at the same time as the Ringfest, giving people the impression that this is one big event, which is far from the truth. However, this is of little concern to the average punter, who will revel at the thought of spending the weekend wandering about the city from gig to gig.
