The Alter Wartesaal is the 'old waiting-room' of the Hauptbahnhof. In the old days at the station, there were not as many places to sit or to buy something to eat as there are now. Re-opened as a club, restaurant and concert venue, it now provides plenty of better ways to spend your time (and money) than waiting for a train. The entrance is found under the bridge around the corner from the front exit of the station, which sounds like it might be dangerous, but don't worry. The elaborate decoration makes for a classy atmosphere, and the food and drinks are priced accordingly. On the weekend, a fantastic brunch-buffet is offered. For EUR 18 you can help yourself to gourmet treats, drinks included. The Wartesaal is owned by the famous talk-show host and TV chef, Alfred Biolek.
