Gasthof zum Fidelen Affen

Austrian meals, prepared following old, traditional recipes, are extremely hard to find in Salzburg these days. Often restaurants advertising with these kinds of slogans turn out to be real tourist traps. But in the "Zum Fidelen Affen", which translated means "At the jolly monkey", this is not the case. Over the years the restaurant in a side street of the Linzer Gasse has become highly acclaimed among Salzburg inhabitants. And where the locals eat is where you get the local food, logically. Everything that is Austrian you can find on the menu, from good old roast pork to the well known Vienna Schnitzel, best enjoyed with a cool pint of beer. And all this is served quickly and is of very good quality. Austrians would say "mahlzeit" or "guten Appetit", we would say "Tuck in!"
