The Burgerwehr restaurant is a bit of a secret despite the fact that it is right in the middle of Salzburg. The easiest way to reach it is by taking the Monchsbergaufzug (the lift that goes up the Monchsberg). There is not much room inside the restaurant so it is best to go there when the weather is nice, so that you can sit outside in the garden. The Austrian food that is served is of the highest quality but the prices are moderate. The fact that there is not a lot of staff means that waiting times can often be quite lengthy. The splendid photo oppurtunities of Salzburg's inner city will no doubt take your mind away from your hunger though.
