Mikado

67 West 100 South, Salt Lake City, UT
Tel: (801) 328-0929

This is an authentic Japanese restaurant in downtown Salt Lake City. Diners enjoy the traditional private dining areas or seating in the expansive main dining room. The liquor license allows diners to enjoy saki or traditional Japanese beer with their dinners. The sushi chefs are known for whipping up unadvertized specials for diners seated at the sushi bar. Entrees average about $16, but expect to pay more for fresh sushi dishes, especially if your party is ordering a la carte.

  • Poor Service, Cold Food, Overpriced

“I'd never been to the Mikado until February 2005. We originally had planned on going to another local sushi restaurant but they were unable to accomodate our group. We called Mikado and they said they could take us, no problem. That should have been our first clue.We were seated in a private dining area and waited. About 15 minutes after we arrived a server came and asked us what we would like to drink. One problem, they'd never brought us menus. After getting enough menus for about 1/3 of our party, we managed to order drinks.Things were ok after that, appetizers came quickly and were ok, although small portion wise. But dinner turned into a disaster. We had to ask for our salads, twice, and did not recieve them until after we'd recieved our entree. Many of the entree's were cold by the time they arrived. We had to ask 4 times for one particular dish, only to be told that the server had never put the order in. The food was mediocre at best, the portions were small especially given the price, and the service was atrocious. They lost 20+ customers that night.”
