Jekyll and Hyde Club1409 Avenue of the Americas, (between 57th and 58th streets), New York City, NYFrom the line that snakes around the uptown branch of this horror-themed restaurant, you would think the Beatles were playing inside. Instead, New York's hotspot for pre-teens is a Victorian haunted house filled with mechanical ghosts and scarily costumed actors. The overpriced menu features basic American food such as burgers and sandwiches. While most adults would rather be somewhere else, kids will certainly have fun. Other location: Jekyll and Hyde Pub, 91 Seventh Avenue South between Barrow and West 4th streets (+1 212 989 7701).

“A great place to have fun with the family. Lots to see. It was a roller coaster rise from the start.”

“19 members of the staff took a party of 130 teenage students from the U.K. to the Jekyll and Hyde club a couple of nights ago. I can't actually recollect a meal I've had as bad as this one. They were charged over $50 a head for undercooked burgers (many were actually frozen inside!) and pizza which simply defied description. We came in three equal sized groups; out of the first 70 meals, which came out, about 58 were returned. These meals later came out of the kitchen still undercooked. Our students aren't particularly fussy, but there wasn't a single positive comment about it. Having put the health of our students at risk on this massive scale during a holiday for which the children had saved for two years, I had no option but to contact the city Health Department. The kitchen of this establishment can't be functioning properly with this level of problem evident, Avoid this place! We certainly will. Absolutely appalled. I hope that the city shut it down.”

“For $42.50 for overcooked hambergers and chicken strips with fries, this restaurant is over done. Unfortunately the same can be said for the lame show that accompanies your meal. It is almost just as lame filled with unknown wannabes and mysterious waitresses who leave you guessing when to expect your dinner albeit 45 minutes after ordering. I would pass up the $42.50 entree and spend a little bit more on a good broadway play and midtown restaurant with decent food and service, all of this lacking from this horror restaurant, which truly in its own respect is a horror when it come to good food and service.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

“Small kids loved it. Although was disappointed waiters were not dressed up. Older kids thought it was ok- Think they were looking for more ghoulishness from staff-like a haunted house--none of that though. Ate lunch 1pm. Top floors off limited to look at. Food was the pits have potential though if they could spare the cheese and lettuce on the burgers and change the buns to something edible. How do you make a child eat a hockey puck! My 11 year old said the place was filthy-his words not mine. Shame, dropped a small fortune, you expect to a decent meal even though it was a theme place.”

“It's very much for tourists, but it is fun. You'll enjoy playing around with Dr. Jekyll. The food is pricey but I'd probably go back again.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

“I love the atmosphere at the Jekyll and Hyde Club, but the only reason is because I am a fan of scary things and this restaurant has it all. Except for their pricey menu. I don't think I've ever spent over 90.00 on just the basics for an ordinary lunch. I would go back but the only good place to sit is on the first floor. Trust me!” 4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

“I think this restaurant suffers from the same problem as Planet Hollywood. The owners think that just because there is a cool atmosphere, people will come in droves. Unfortunately I think the only people coming are tourists. No locals I know have been there more than once. The food isn't too good. You could probably get better food at TGIFridays, if that's possible.” 6 of 9 people found this review helpful.Popular Restraurants in New York CityView all restaurants in New York City
