Cafe de OrientePlaza de Oriente, 2, Madrid, SpainWeb: Visit this site » It is much more than a cafe. In fact, this is a restaurant that is good enough to have been awarded a Michelin star for its creative and modern style of cooking. The house specials are cod prepared in a variety of ways and duck liver pate. There is a gourmet menu and an excellent wine cellar. The restaurant is built on top of the ruins of an old convent close to the Teatro Real, and tends to fill up after performances and on Sunday afternoons when the outdoor terrace is very popular.

“I used to eat in the Oriented years ago. Excellent value and good food then but now. Awful. Ate there last week on a trip to Madrid. I was served fish which I'd suspect had been cooked the day before and microwave before being given to me. Vile. I ate three forkfuls and left the rest. The Waitress didn't bother to ask if there was a problem. Nobody seemed to care that we'd had a bad experience. Place was empty at a time it should have been full. Follow the examples of the locals and avoid the place!” 2 of 3 people found this review helpful.Popular Restraurants in MadridView all restaurants in Madrid
