South First Billiards

420 South First Street, (between San Salvador and Willam streets), San Jose, CA

This is an enormous pool hall and bar in the SoFa (South First) district, this establishment serves excellent pub food (quesadillas, wings, etcetera). Many beers are on tap and there are daily happy hour specials. On Tuesdays, it hosts a pool tournament that anyone can enter, from new players to seasoned amateurs and everyone has a great time. It is also a great place to host a corporate party or event.

  • Atmosphere. Music. Art. Clean and safe.
  • Bathrooms need up scaling.

“Got tired of the Los Gatos scene and decided to risk the downtown. If SJ had more places like south first billiards Iżd probably spend more time there. Love the brick walls filled with unexpected quality art work. The billiards was definitely as upscale as they advertise and the DJ music was just enough to energize our crowd. Put something nice on the big projection screen they have and it would be a very complete nightlife experience. Next time, Iżll have to try the food, but the looks of it seemed good. I definitely rate this 10 for classy night out with my girlfriends.”

  • Great place to hang out. Upscale but yet comfortable casual.
  • Music is too loud sometimes.

“If you're tired of clubbing and need a place to hang out, SFB is a great alternative. Its an upscale billiards with a lounge and a 20foot screen TV. They serve great food and have hot waitresses. We had a corporate event there once and that was enough to keep me coming. HUGE SPACE and nice art on the wall--- I wish SF had something like this. ”
