This is perhaps the best-known and most frequented cafe in the city, not only for its location in the heart of downtown, but also because here the city's inhabitants meet up before heading anywhere. Besides the excellent coffee (au lait, American-style, expresso, or with cream), you can also enjoy continental and English-style breakfasts, or, if you are a more traditional Spanish breakfast-type, a ham and cheese sandwich or buttered toast. They serve a wonderful variety of fresh-made cakes and pastries to dunk in your morning cup. In addition, you can have a tapa before lunch or a combo platter if you're in a hurry. The average price of a complete breakfast (juice, coffee or tea, and toast) is about (EUR 4.50).
