  • The Tacos la Julia were pretty good.
  • It's hard to find something that tastes good, you really has to search.

“The food is okay but not great. The location is perfect if you like going to old town. Being seated outside is much better then being inside. I could pass on the food. It's ok if you like Americanized Mexican food.”

  • Great location for tourist to walk and shop around.
  • Slow service, overpriced, and the food has lost its origin taste.

“Americanized Mexican Food- More Cheesy than Authentic. Food Created for the Tourist.”

  • No wait.
  • No wait in on a Friday night usually means bad things.

“Beware! Go next door to eat and skip this joint! This is a tourist trap, plain and simple and there is good reason that this place never has a wait. My hubby and I decided to try this since we love the Old Town Mexican Cafe next door and it was packed full of tourists and had a 1 hour wait (usually we don't mind, be we were super hungry!), so we went to the Cafe Coyote instead, bad choice on our part. We paid about $14 a plate for garbage Applebee's/TGI Friday's style Mexican food, weak and expensive margaritas. I ordered Chicken Verde that was dry and rubbery and covered in some awful processed cheese sauce. My husband order carne that was just as bad. We ate less than half our plate of food, and our poor server was running around with an air cast on her leg! The only thing that could have made this worse would have been if I had found a bug or body part in my food.”

  • No long lines.
  • Mariachi singers, (but that's just me).

“Long time resident here in San Diego and we love to have breakfast at cafe coyote. Never a long wait, the food is great and the service is top notch. The patio has wonderful atmosphere. .”

  • There are two bars...
  • The salsa was bad. Looked like ketchup and not hot at all...

“During my trip to san Diego form Texas, my business partners and I felt the need for Mexican food. A person who we met while in old town suggested cafe coyote. Ever since, my business partners and I never looked back to regret eating there. Now, every time was in san Diego we are at cafe coyote for lunch and dinner. Highly recommended!”

  • Cafe coyote is quite the treasure hiding in cafe coyote.
  • None.

“Last April, I hosted a family get together of about 42 family members. We traveled from all over the world to meet here at cafe coyote, in san Diego, California. We had the time of our lives. Cafe coyote truly made it a terrific event. The service outstanding, the margaritas the best, the fish tacos--to die for, but most of all the entire staff, including management truly seem to enjoy their work. Now that¿s what a dining experience is all about.”

  • Tortillas and Margaritas.
  • Nothing.

“Every time I'm in San Diego I do my best to go to Cafe Coyote in Old Town. It's hard to describe why I like Cafe Coyote in just a few sentences. The tortillas are to die for. Most restaurants neglect the tortilla or don't put too much care into making it. A bad tortilla is like bad bread on a sand witch. It's part of the meal! I could eat just their tortillas and be happy. I've never really had to wait even on the busy nights. There's a ton of seating. The drinks aren't watered down like some of the other places I could mention. I love their margaritas. Last time I was there they had something I thought was really neat. There's a guy (I forget his name. Mario maybe?) who's a Tequila Ambassador. He goes to your table and talks to you about tequilas. That was cute. Anyway, I've tried almost all their menu and I've never been disappointed. I saw a banner last time I was there where they said they won best Mexican for 2006. They sure do deserve it.”
