• Atmosphere, friendly staff, huge portions, very reasonable prices, fresh ingredients.
• Portions are so huge, if you're traveling far, you'd better bring a cooler because you'll hate throwing anything away!

“My husband and I stop here on our way to the UP every year around the holidays. It's a stop we really look forward to, not only because we're halfway through our trip, but because we love everything about the Whitmore Lake Tavern. Most importantly, though, let's talk food. As two people who live to eat at some of the best restaurants in the world, we really appreciate the fresh ingredients, hearty portions (even my husband, with a famously huge appetite, normally takes a doggie bag!), friendly and fast service, and cozy ambience. There's just something so cozy about this place, and while it gives that small town vibe, where it seems like everyone knows everyone in this place, it's not the kind of place where the locals are unfriendly and stare quite the opposite, as a matter of fact. Everyone is very friendly, and it seems that the staff all enjoys working there. As far as specific foods, I only get one thing here -the fish sandwich, as I do not eat any kind of beef or chicken or other land dwellers. The fish sandwich is always huge and I get at least three meals out of it. My husband, who loves his red meat, tends to order a burger of some kind or another, and I know the last time we ate here he got a burger which was so big, we were told that only one person had finished the entire thing before in one sitting. Sure enough, we left with doggie bag in hand! I highly recommend this joint it's a stop that we really enjoy making!”
